So many options in college…

So many options in college football where you can get the bag. Amazes me any college aged person would want to play for that clown. Ryan day makes Saban look like a hip dude.

We have a loaded defense.

We have a loaded defense.

No it’s not possible… these…

No it’s not possible… these teams are like the Navajo wind talkers.  Their secret play calling schemes are all unique and uncrackable.

Awful lot of OSU fans are…

Awful lot of OSU fans are also Steelers fans... so anything the Browns or their fans do to try and disrespekt the Steelers is ok by me.

This is the reaction I’d…

This is the reaction I’d expect from 100% of kids who’s wavers are denied regardless of the reason. This doesn’t tell me a thing about how UM is handling transfers.

Thank goodness neither team…

Thank goodness neither team was heading south to play anywhere in the SEC this weekend.  Half the team would have been cramped up playing in Baton Rouge.  The fact neither team was well prepared for the conditions is not a good excuse.

No, you are absolutely…

No, you are absolutely correct... for anyone watching the game with any interest, it was not hard to know Bush was back in the game in the 2nd half.

Don't apologize... these are the same experts that will want a bunch of people fired, call out players, etc.... I'm not saying those takes are all wrong, but they are wrong from people not paying any better attention to the games than that.

This is such a bad take…

This is such a bad take... if UM can't beat a Utah or Florida (good, not great teams, I know we beat UF), or ND (time will tell) in game 1 then we're probably not winning the conference.  I don't like losing early either, but playing nobody the first 3 games of the year doesn't do anything to help the team's chances of making the playoffs.  If they aren't a good team, they just aren't and an early loss won't matter.

except Nebraska has a coach…

except Nebraska has a coach now that I think may prove to be a better collegiate coach for them than Harbaugh is for UM.

Would be interesting to see…

Would be interesting to see if OSU has a retention policy around electronic stuff like email and text messages... I'm sure they do.. and whether this 1 yr setting on his phone complies with that policy or not.

Ok, so despite Zach Smith's…

Ok, so despite Zach Smith's tenure/seniority over a first year coach he was making less... and also allowed to explore leaving on his own timeline vs being fired like any normal person who is totally unqualified from a character standpoint to hold a job.. and this in your mind makes the situation better because OSU tried a tiny bit to make it seem like they didn't want him there?

This just drives home the point even further that he was kept on staff for reasons other than being good at his job, and they were too afraid (for some straaaange reason) to just terminate him.

He was a big enough liability that under any normal circumstance, an organization would immediately sever ties with that individual... but not at OSU because they are just super nice to their employees I guess.

I will add I just bought …

I will add I just bought (and subsequently returned) a 2018 vizio 55” p series. Seemed like a good value but there was noticeable vertical banding. Not sure if a problem with just that particular set but I wasn’t impressed with their customer service so I just returned it. Picture was solid but I couldn’t unsee the bands once I noticed them.

Agree. I own 3 Panasonic…

Agree. I own 3 Panasonic plasmas. Watching a 15 year old 720p set right now with a better picture than many current sets on the market.

Buy from B&H Photo and you…

Buy from B&H Photo and you avoid paying sales tax if outside NY. Depending on cost of the set that can be a substantial savings. Just bought an OLED to add to my collection of plasmas still kicking after anywhere from 6-15 yrs.

Fortunate for him he won't…

Fortunate for him he won't be playing on Sundays then where the fans are 100x worse.  Appreciate his adequate enough performances in wins against teams from Indiana, but definately ready to see what the future holds with Michigan's current group of QBs.

Also... when you move to…

Also... when you move to another state, the person who stupidly asks why you don't root for their in-state program as if everybody just changes their allegiances the minute you physically cross into a new state.

ND football fan / IU…

ND football fan / IU basketball fan... they are the same person 99% of the time.

Circleville Lamp Plant?

If I recall from some time ago, you work/worked? for GE?  I used to traverse between Bucyrus and Circleville as well and spent about a year doing 2-3 days every week or 2 in Circleville.

Children's Palace was better...

While this is probably a restructuring as others have said, I don't know that this will really extend the life of Toys R Us for long anyway.

Probably 75% of the time I take my kids there and we find something they want, we end up buying for a better price from Amazon.  Brick and mortar only exists anymore in the rare instances you have to have something now and can't wait a couple days on shipping.

I don't think...

.. you're going to find anyone challenging that they wouldn't rather have one of two top 25 5-star prospects than Poole.

It's not as if Beilein made the choice to overlook Bowen and Jackson in favor of Poole... he's taking what he can't get, which isn't consistently good enough.

Sorry if this was already brought up...

.. and I missed it, but does the rule only allow bringing back former players of your school?  While you aren't going to get Braxton Miller to swing by Ann Arbor to help prep for OSU, perhaps you could find a similar type former player from another program that would be up for it?

Even without direct compensation, maybe a former player aspiring to get into coaching might consider the possible networking and getting time around the coaching staff as being worth it.

Looks like...

.. looks like a fear boner.

Wow... you're employed by the state..

.. your salary paid with tax payer dollars, and you have the balls to charge people to high five you.  Unless this is somehow missing some context, what a piece of sh*t.

If you had a way...

.. to do that without also turning your backs on the players and coaches that were not involved in any of this mess, then I'd whole heartedly agree.  But there's no easy way to do that.  We don't know if most of them do or don't condone the JoePa support that's going on.

This feels to me like a stadium full of people putting on a display of convenient protest.

When more than just a few give up a minute of their day to actually do something to help victims of child abuse I'll change my tune, but this just sounds like something everybody wants to do because it's a convenient and easy way to use a football game they are attending regardless to voice their rage against the PSU culture.  If you care that much, do something more than piggybacking off your gameday experience and make a real difference.

Honest question...

.. but once fall camps start and the season kicks off, how much time do most staffs spend on recruiting outside of some involvement with game visitors?  Is it still pretty much full swing, or does the communication from most staff's decrease during this time?

Trubisky...

.. I saw him play as a Junior against St. Ignatius, went to the game to see how Tom Strobel looked, and so my 3 yr old at the time could enjoy a football game.. wished Hoke and staff hadn't been so set on going all in on just one QB and had showed more interest in Trubisky as well.

No slight to Strobel, but I left feeling much more impressed that day with Trubisky.  Strobel just seemed bigger than most of the other kids.

Wonder if this has...

.. more to do with the staff looking at taking as many as 7 OL in this class.. if he isn't an elite prospect, he could be sitting behind other guys for 4 years... and might have just been easier to piggy back off Solomon's decommit announcement as far as drawing less attention on him specifically.

Also... has he visited the campus yet?

This staff deserves a break...

.. they bust ass so much harder than many other staffs with the massive satellite camp tour they didn't need to do... then a detail like this gets missed, and it creates the appearance in some people's opinion the staff doesn't know what they're doing.  Kind of a kick in the junk to a staff that probably puts more work in than the majority of other staffs.  If only they could sit on their ass all summer like Hugh Freeze to make sure and send out proper thank you cards.

I'm not entirely making light of it, but where does the appreciation come into play for this staff hosting a camp at their high school... any good will from that undone by this?

I take comfort knowing that this staff I'm sure is 100% focused on getting the players already on the team prepared for their first game, and knowing all of this will work itself out if they just win.

While I can understand..

.. an initial reaction like that, I would hope level heads would prevail given the staff hosted a satellite camp at his high school and all... obviously a clerical mistake by someone who maybe shouldn't be in charge of this going forward, but certainly not an indication our coaching staff doesn't know who any of the recruits are.  Odds are Solomon and Reese are the main reasons the staff held a camp at Lee County in the first place.

We held a satellite camp...

.. at his high school, because... Aubrey Solomon and Otis Reese.  Doubt his presence went unnoticed with the coaching staff at the BBQ.  It's pretty logical to think this was a clerical error, and unfortunately, a big one... although I don't buy that this was the last straw, but rather a convenient excuse to pull the trigger on a decommitment that's been coming.

These things being blown out of proportion (when in most other circumstances, something like this would be treated for what it is, an honest clerical mistake), speaks to the pressure these kids are under.  This kind of stuff gets put out there to minimize the social media backlash, etc, and unfortunately makes the program look bad in the process.  Just wish kids would say they like another school more, that alone is reason enough, and honestly these kids shouldn't feel they need to justify these decisions anyway.

I tend to agree...

.. we are ND was the worst thing I've ever seen, this is not that.  However, I just tend to feel like sports themed songs are cheesy by nature.  Doesn't mean it's bad, but it is cheesy.

Thought I read he was this season... Could be wrong but thought I remembered reading his coaches were going to play him some at LB this season. Don't know if that's transpired though or not.
somewhat similar experience, different venue...

.. only this took place on a red eye flight from California back to Cleveland.  It's I believe 3 seats, aisle, 3 seats sort of arrangement, and my ticket was for the window seat.  Naturally, I'm walking in to board and this guy and his wife are in my window seat and the middle seat, putting me along the aisle.  They of course are giving me that look as I'm walking toward them like they know they are in the wrong seat but just hoping whoever's seat it is doesn't say anything.  I don't because I don't really care, and normally I prefer the aisle for the additional leg room.

Plane takes off... these people are stuffing their face with bags of smelly fast food to start and throwing their trash all over the floor.  Then, it isn't until after we're into the flight, that I find out these idiots have put me between themselves and their 2 kids (probably 10-12 ish in age) on the other side of the aisle.  While I'm trying to sleep, they spend the several hour flight passing gum and other crap over me and across the aisle to their kids never once acknowledge how f*cked up it is to have placed me in between all that.  On top, un-related kid behind me is kicking my seat the whole time.  It took everything I could to keep my composure and not get myself restrained by going off on those morons.

Almost forgot, the lady in my window seat was also on crutches with a boot... so instead of sitting on the aisle, this idiot makes me get up so she can limp to the bathroom any time she needs up.

what sort of lighting...

.. would you expect to see in a space like that?

Fanta...

mostly the pineapple since it's not as common a flavor, but like the others as well

the difference for me...

.. is the callers and their "takes."  I can tolerate cowherd because I feel the callers aren't as big an element of his show... or maybe it just doesn't feel like they are to me.  I feel like that's all Rome and Finebaum's shows are.

I just can't get entertained by listening to the dumbest people around sharing their dumb opinions, with a host who more often than not, is going to just turn around and mock them.

Only thing worse I can imagine...

.. being forced to listen to on the radio besides jim rome would be the paul finebaum show.

Not even really a full week... 3 practices

Good mindset...

Good mindset to have... amazing how many times you see a $100k+ car parked in a physicians lot.  Yes, doctors work hard to get where they are... but everyone else at the hospital/practice not making that kind of salary still reserve the right to think you are a complete d-bag.  Ok to own those cars, not ok to drive them to work.  Seems like this should be pretty universal amongst professions.

Maybe I just never looked closely enough...

I spent the first 10 years of my career with GE, about 7 of those with Lighting, and 3 of those at Nela Park.  Always thought there seemed to be plenty of $45k cars parked in front of the executive bldg or in the garage.

But, to your point, as far as leadership, some of those I most admired drove expensive cars in part because the company paid for them, but not all.

This was actually the first non-call that popped into my head...

.. maybe not the worst non-call aginst michigan ever, but the one I remember most for some reason.  The ball appeared to be sitting on the turf easily a full foot outside the endzone while Carlyle Holiday's head scored the touchdown.

I'm finally in that same place myself...

Now that they aren't asking specifically for funds that could be used in any other better way, I don't really care what they do from here on out.

I read "endorsed" as just meaning that the student government is giving them the green light to waste as much of their own time and money on this thing, that will likely never be heard at any sort of official university event, as they want.

To me, this sort of says that this stupid crusade will only get as far as the personal time and resources these people want to invest in it will take it.  if they crowd source a ton of money somehow and it turns out to be good, not really a problem... if they do that and it's bad as expected, then the idea was as dumb as we think it is.

Pretty sure current Tundras and Tacomas

receive final assembly in San Antonio.

Camry...

Isn't the Camry assembled in KY?

I lived in western MA for a while..

.. and every other car was a Subaru it seemed... I realize most of the population lives in eastern MA, but just didn't surprise me to see a state in the NE area that has lots of Subarus like CT.

You can honestly imagine...

.. a world in which Bellamy puts up 3,000 yards at any program at any level?  I'm not seeing it... that alone puts O'Korn at a level above Bellamy in my book.  He actually did it in college, I don't care where, something I can't imagine Bellamy ever doing.

Another way to look at it... had Bellamy stuck with his Purdue commit.. do you think at any point he'd have seen much PT there?  I don't.  I think a guy like O'Korn would have at a minimum challenged for the starting spot at a place like Purdue, or been the starter.  Does that mean he'll be a starter at UM, maybe not, but I think to compare his talent level to bellamy is ridiculous based on what O'Korn has already accomplished.

Pretty much...

.. blows me away how many people feel it's some huge sin that a kid didn't try harder so the team they root for from their seat/sofa can win some football games.  Is it sad he maybe didn't make it a priority to maximize his potential, sure, but that makes it nothing more than simply disappointing.

Some people on here are treating him like he slept with their girlfriend or something.

People were upset at the POSHB

characterization of DB because that was too over the top despite the massive rap sheet of stuff he did... and now Devin Funchess' sin of not trying hard enough at football is unforgivable?  Ok.

Fine then, don't root for him...

.. don't think that should really serve as any sort of justification of the people taking jabs at him though.
