Agree. Another good sign is that if something bad happens we have at least two thoroughbreds in the stable who can come out and make plays. I like where Michigan is sitting at the QB position.
I agree. I feel like he would have a huge impact on this team. He and Trevon Grimes from STA in Fla are my two favorite WRs for this football team. I know OSU offered him first, but Harbaugh is a hands on coach. That means a lot to some players. Fingers crossed.
If you ask me, "draft stock" is bullshit. Nowadays the nba throws away players who don't work faster than ever. Guys should be more worried about if they are ready to come in and compete instead of when some writer on bleacher report thinks they will get drafted. Nik, GR3 and Mitch are great, but they arn't ready to compete in the NBA they way Trey was. Doesn't mean they won't do fine in the long run, but it will take longer and it's a bit more up in the air. I think they increase their chances by learn for another year under a great coach.
What are your thoughts on his film. I grew up in the area. The schools he is playing are tough and he looks like Wheatley made a baby with Marshall Faulk...
Nik is going to get a chance in the league regardless. What he does once he gets there depends on what type of player he is upon arrival. As it stand now, he has the skill to play in the league, but in my opinion, more experience (particularly big game) would help him greatly.
I agree Mitch would have made it more difficult but each player has five fouls to give and a guard can make somebody pay for coming in the lane. I'm not saying play dirty, I'm saying play big and play with a chip on your shoulder. Ray Jackson did it well.
Kentucky won because they drove to the paint with ease in the second half...
I think it's a shame if any of them go. I think another year would allow Nik even more growth that he had this year. He is a great player but he could evolve into special with more experience and more coaching. He could be buried on a bench in the league...
Pressing is a coaching call. Watson is great, but Peppers can play press as well. I'm familiar with the tape on both and IMO it's scheme that you're referring to.
I will say I'm excited about Wilson and Thomas back at safety. I'm pumped about Blake and Ray on the corners with last years sophs and the two freshman coming in behind them. I think we have the foundation of a great secondary.
170 at this level will not stop your playmaking ability. Look at guys like Howard and Manningham they didn't come much bigger. Gallon came in "too small" and left with his name in the record books.
Healthy, it never happened. Period. I have been watching michigan football since 88 and the only guy with the straight line speed to mess with denard was Wheatley. I'm not sure if he was faster or I just remember him blowing through holes and exploding up the field, so he seemed just as fast... It's tough. Denard is fast and if he trained for the 40 it would have been an even better time... But sub 4.4 is fast either way you cut it.
His HS coach was tight Borges and when we dropped him and brought in Nuss Harris pulled his commit. I think that is the reasoning. That's completely understandable.
Either way, I firmly believe the reason we had a 7-6 record was due to play calling on the offensive side of the ball. I'm excited to see what happens with Nuss calling the offense. If he can keep the D off the field more than last year I think we have a shot at a B1G title.
Yeah... Remember how much better we were before he got here?
What planet are you buying dope on?
Yes we rely too much on the 3 ball. It's college basketball. Teams do that when they are undersized and have a guard heavy roster like we do. We haven't had this type of situation since Fisher.
He isn't a guy you can just hand the ball to and watch him create a shot. He ends up bombing a 35 footer... GR3 is athletic enough to do so, but his assertiveness has to increase. I think we are seeing what happens when Hardaway and Burke leave this team. Somebody has to step up and start attacking the rim, making the defense collapse and creating open shots for Nik and Zak.
The worst thing I have read since the 9-11 commission report.... Do you even watch basketball?
T-Mac didn't go to college.... He won multiple scoring titles, multiple all-star appearances, multiple playoff trips with his team on his back the entire season... and if you want to split hairs, prob would have a dunk contest title on his mantle if it was for THE BEST DUNK CONTEST PERFORMANCE EVER (- maybe Jordan) by Vince Carter.
GR3 is talented in transition... but he has got to put a chip on his shoulder like his dad had. Until then... He isn't even Harold Miner... While we are talking dunk contests...
I feel like this game came at a good time. It knocks all the "national title" hopes out of a lot of people's heads. We need to block, tackle, execute and play aggressive , but have to mentally prepare for every game every week more than all of those things.
But let us think back to last year vs Bama. Dee Milliner THREW Roy Roundtree our of bounds and there was no call. I feel like we got away with one on that... Also the Funchess PI call looked to be a bit more official. Considering it was on the goal line I'd say it was a good call.
Also, I would like to go on record an say that Jeremy Gallon has officially entered the ranks as one of the all time great UM playmakers in my opinion.
I think Wilson did fine. Safety takes time and he showed an imposing style of play that I feel works well with this defense. Reminds me of Jamar Adams. He made aggressive plays against both the run and the pass. I feel like the overall disposition of the secondary is great. If we can get constant pressure from our front four, this group could make some noise this year for real.
I don't care about the rankings. I trust this coaching staff's process of evaluation more than any website and feel like the star grading system doesn't mean anything once they put the pads on at the next level. I spent a summer drooling over Ronald Johnson and realized that he wasn't the player he was hyped to be once I watched him play at USC. We need to bring in guys for this system and our coaches obviously know how to do that.
I agree that the play calling in the second half was stiff and predictable but the fact that he isn't working with his own talent remains. They are recruiting well and are going to have pieces in place for the type of offence they will look to run moving forward. We can't put Borges on the cross for this season. As it has been stated before, last season was a product of huge plays by robinson and hemmingway as well as an overall underdog attitude that had the nation not thinking that Hoke and company could do what they did in the first year with the players they had.
Let's give the staff a break and be thankful for the turn around that was engineered.
Everyone knows that this play calling isn't what we are use to but let me remind you that we only have lost to undefeated teams in the top ten. Alabama could beat the Jacksonville Jags and ND... Well, we had an off day. Stats and Highlights are great but wins and maintaining a humble, classy attitude are what make a program mean something. Also, Al Borges still isn't working with personnel that he brought in. I'm sure everything will work out. Give it some time. Just because we won the sugar bowl at the end of one of the best seasons this program has had in years doesn't mean that we should expect an undefeated season to follow. The goal is the big ten title and we are working to get that.
Everyone you just mentioned cannot be fairly judged as far as talent goes because of the coaching changes they underwent during their time at Michigan.
Last year, much as they did when they came in with RR, they had to learn the new schemes and assignments for their positions, then implement installations within the offense or defense and try and gel with the players around them. A coaching switch can make that difficult.
Coach Hoke and his assistants obviously have a better system in place, but it's not fair to say this team doesn't have the talent to win the Big 10. If this team can continue to buy into the system and focus on both common and individual goals set before them by the coaching staff then we can definitely win the Big 10 Title.
Demar Dorsey had his full ride tacked bc of felony charges that were dismissed. I personally think he would have changed out defense as a whole right now but thw university did what it thought was best. This is no different. Frank Clark should be removed from the team as a whole and made an example of.
Coach Hoke know what he wants from his players on the field and as men. It makes me sick to see stuff like this happen but what matter most is how you handle it.
I will say, I have a few friends who are Bama fans and they were all really cool about the game. They all mentioned we are in a rebuilding period and brought up how great Hoke has done in the short time he has been there. I feel like Bama fan in general understand that if they were to take the low road it would only discredit the program as a whole. Unfortunately, Ohio fans don't get that, but I blame that on a lot of pregnancy boozing...

The recruitment rating system isn't bulletproof. We just have to play tough and gel as a team and we will be fine.

I think he will be bossy at 220.
Burke did that. He was fearless.
