A glorious Maize and Blue…

A glorious Maize and Blue victory it was!

I have to believe those offensive linemen were motivated by the fact that Washington's line was awarded the top O-line designation in the country. Our O-line absolutely pushed them around and opened gaping holes for our backs and protected JJ much better than theirs. Of course they had never faced anything as talented and relentless as our D-line! Still, it seemed like all they could do was reach out and grab our interior rushers as they raced past them.

I had season tickets for 28 years, starting with Anthony Carter's first game. I had become a little tired of all the excessive money involved in shaping college football and had thought that maybe this was no longer possible. Thank you Jim Harbaugh for proving otherwise.

Thank you team 144!

My grandaughter was born…

My grandaughter was born with a congenital heart defect and the people at C.S. Mott saved her life. after open heart surgery when she was five days old, she spent the next two months recovering. Then miraculously she came home and is now hitting every milestone for a healthy baby girl. I get choked up just thinking about it now. She will be 3 in a few months.

You have been dealt a lousy hand for sure, but just know that the very BEST in the world are looking after your son. We all hope and pray that everything will be "normal" again soon.

Plus I've seen them play at Notre Dame x4 and the Rose Bowl x4 and in Boulder Co. Plus i'm sure a few more.

After watching Faulds play…

After watching Faulds play in the first half I was yelling at the TV to put him in again when it seemed like nobody knew how to play defense in the post. He plays pretty good position inside and I thought he played well in the Illinois game a few weeks ago too. Maybe he is our most dependable backup big inside?

I remember driving a couple…

I remember driving a couple hours from Kalamazoo every year to watch the spring game back when I cared. Watched a kid named Jimmy Harbaugh complete a pass to John Kolesar.

This had been an excellent…

This had been an excellent free throw shooting team all year. It was astonishing to see them missing so many last night. I hate saying this, but they really missed Livers. There were a few games where nobody was hitting anything and he came in and hit a couple shots that got us going. That is what was sorely missed last night. I found myself screaming someone just make a shot!

I wanted Davis to be put back in with about 4 minutes left. I don't think they would have double teamed him as much and he is very good at getting his shots off. Their big guy would have almost certainly fouled out sooner.

All in all great team, great year, just missed Zey.

Seemed like all the pundits…

Seemed like all the pundits were planning for the Michigan upset (again). In the pregame show they said "Michigan hasn't faced an athletic team like this, FSU is the best team they will have faced all year". As I was talking back to the TV I said "Really? I wonder how FSU'd do in the B1G?" They'd probably have finished between 6th and 8th place.

Its like they first tried to run us out of the gym - as other, better teams have unsuccessfully tried...then they tried, unsuccessfully to out-muscle us. In the end they weren't close to being able to do either one.

I'm wondering about the B1G…

I'm wondering about the B1G officiating now... they didn't do us any favors by calling the conference games completely different from how these tournament games seem to be being called.

It got to a point in the second half where seemingly every whistle was a ridiculous call.

I guess as the featured CBS primetime game keeping it back and forth makes it more "exciting". Juwan did an excellent job of adjusting his strategy towards the way the game was being officiated.

This schedule was bound to…

This schedule was bound to result in a game like this. Juwan's NBA experience was on display here. He saw how tired his team was and didn't push them too hard. The questionable call on Dickenson (after the questionable one on Coburn) pretty much ended this game. If they make it through this gauntlet without a serious injury, that will be the most important thing. The team looked dead tired tonight, and if we noticed it watching it on TV I'm sure Juwan was well aware.

I was at that game. My friends and I went out to Colorado to go to the game and visit friends there. Before the game I was walking around the stadium and found the Buffalo "mascot" and one of its handlers. I said to him "What's with the fuzzy cow?" and he just looked at me with a stare. Just after the game ended, we were on the field talking to Jarret Irons' father when a huge rainstorm rolled in over the mountains.

I like how the OSU guy…

I like how the OSU guy grabbed the Maryland players jersey and didn't even get called for a foul.

I thought those were flagrant 1 fouls reserved for deciding games? I guess that only works for the home team.

Exceptional content, this is.

To win on the road by 25 in…

To win on the road by 25 in a crucial Big Ten game and have those two have arguably their worst conference games of the year in the same game...

To me this team is hitting their stride and what a perfect opportunity for everyone else to make their contributions. We are rounding into a team that will be fun to watch for the rest of the year. The Teske/X combination will help drive them to win more big games the rest of the year and pad their lofty career numbers. The experience those two possess will be a big factor.

Sadly, the thing that stood out to me watching this game was Michigan had only one explosive guy with big play potential on their team... Giles Jackson.

Alabama had several.

This was in my prime of fandom... Went to the Wisconsin game and it was over before most of their fans had found their seats. Loved Tony Boles, Johnny Kolesar, Tripp Welborne and Mark Messner. Went to every game except Iowa this season.

Jordan Glasgow's two blocks on DPJ's return were great.

I had season tickets for…

I had season tickets for something like 28 years, but could no longer stand it way back in 2007 and gave mine up. Every single game I've watched on TV since has made me thankful I bailed when I did. Money is the only thing they care about and the product (college football on TV) has become almost as un-watchable as the NFL... but what do they care, their coffer is getting more full. For now.

We had a great time making…

We had a great time making up our own nicknames...

Matt "Slicin" Dyson

Jay "Touchy" Feely

Livers

Isaiah Livers is fun to watch. The fact that he's from here in Kalamazoo makes me root for him that much more. I have been saying for a month now that he should continue to eat up Robinson's minutes. Its nice to see that happening more and more. I have seen very few mistakes from him - especially for a Freshman.

O-line

When I heard on the radio that half our offensive line was either out or hurt and still trying to play I thought Oh No. Arguably our weak spot getting even weaker. Other weak spots are all our receivers, backs and especially quarterbacks.

We never beat a good team all year. Even though SC was just a mediocre team, that seems to be better than us.

This reminds me...

We haven't beaten a team with a winning record this year.

Cheapshottery

That Purdue game did remind me of the cheapshottery that the Sparties are known for.

We used to call Illinois the biting Ilini back in the 90's too.

Purdue 5-0 game

I was there. Two of our five season ticket holders drove all the way from Kalamazoo to watch the game. Before the game even started we had to walk all the way across the golf course from the driving range. That was the first time I ever saw birds flying backwards. I had a parka on over another coat with the hood closed tight with a drawstring and a scarf covering everything but my eyes. My eyes were so cold I had to stop every 50 yards or so to turn away from the wind and rub my eyes. We left at halftime, it was just too brutal.

Wilton Speight...

IS Jumpman!

Anthony Carter

Over the middle with those spindly white legs, stumbling gracefully around would-be tacklers will live forever in my mind. I was at that game in 1979, my first year as a season ticket holder. What an incredible day that was in a game that had so many similarities. The play that I remember was when our back intentionally "fumbled" the ball about 25 yards out of bounds to an excitable Lee Corso. That gave Michigan the opportunity for one more play. The Winner from Johnny Wangler to Anthony "The Darter" Carter FTW. That game shared a lot of emotions with this one as we thought at various times in the game that we would; get it straightened out and cruise to a victory... lose the game... tie the game or just maybe actually win the game.

My question to the coaching staff is why didn't we pass more? Seems like we could have just kept throwing the ball until they stopped us. We wasted many a play giving it to Smith up the middle for no gain... but then again we know Bo would have been looking down smiling at his protegé as he showed just how stubborn he can be.

Seems like Harbaugh took a page from the Schembechler/Carr playbook for this game.

You can't change the helmets

So lets make the shoes, socks, pants, gloves and jersey all look as stupid as we can.

"THROWAWAYS"

I've got a whole box full of them along with my old programs as well. More relevant content filled the "throwaway" programs - as we called them. But of course, I still haven't thrown mine away.

Don't call me Harold

Seems like I remember a game from back in 1978 where Butch "Don't Call Me Harold" Woolfolk ran all over an overmatched Minnesota team.

I was hooked.

The next year I had season tickets and kept them for 28 years.

Anthony Michael who?

I, for one don't.

Izzo in despair

I love how Izzo mentions the "bad calls" three times in his post-game presser... WTF?

I thought the officiating sucked too, but totally one-sided the opposite way he thought.

Kind of wish McCarty or Kocur...

Would have decked Domi just for old time's sake.

Mick

I laughed my ass off when I heard that.

Lookout!

Oddly enough

I just noticed the story on CBS sportsline and clicked on it to read it and it said story has been removed... so maybe they are changing their mind. Or maybe they need additional time to spin it a different way.

Dantonio makes a point

I can't imagine any of the last ten or so coaches at MSU making this decision. They have always been the team that lets these things slide - at least until after the "big game". I begrudgingly must have to admit they might now get more respect from me than OSU.

I have committed myself to

I have committed myself to never changing any plans I may have to including watching Michigan Football games (or any sporting event). The less I have invested the less pain I feel. RichRod taught me that life lesson.

To think that I had season tickets for almost 30 years and lived and died by those outcomes.

At least with Denard we had

At least with Denard we had one option.

Having a superhuman came in handy without an offensive scheme or any blocking.

Open field submarine

I thought Lewan was pissed from what happened the play before his "flare up". He was leading an option/sweep play toward the outside with Gardner trailing right behind him. It appeared that an MSU defender attempted to lunge into his knee with his helmet, which he did and broke up the play... not sure if it was an intentional attempt to injure Taylor, but he may have felt that way. I guess you don't really know unless you are out there.

More photos from the 1979 Indiana game

I used to sneak down to field level and jump on the field, posing as some sort of official photographer... I got a lot of great shots over the years doing that. Here's one of Johnny Wangler running the option.

To quote Jason Isbell, those were better days.

AC rocked the house.

I was at that game as well and went on the field after the game. My first year with season tickets. That still remains the most thrilling sporting event moment I have ever witnessed.

Also I remeber going to Wisconsin to watch Michigan play them back when Tony Boles played running back. Can't remember the exact details, but I think the badgers may have fumbled the opening kickoff then Tony Boles ran the first play from scrimage for a touchdown. Seemed like it was 21-0 before most of the Badger faithful found their seats.

My recollections may have become fogged over time though.

Complimentary programs

I used to love those "throw-aways" that they used to give out at the games. I always bought an official program too, but the throw-away's were the one we actually read and used. Still got a whole box of them in my cluttered basement.

My favorite moment

I yelled "hell yeah" when I saw this graphic superimposed under a photo of Jake Ryan!

Replays

Is it just me, or is this replay rule just an excuse to give all the close calls to the home team... that way the refs can be cheered instead of booed. It's one of those "good for everybody" rule changes that even helps pack more ads into the broadcasts!
