Can any students or recent grads tell me (pretty please) how closely they look at Mcards at entry?  The validation fee is not cheap this year and I was able to get some student tickets. Graduated a few years ago. Still have my Mcard.

Can I ask an unrelated question?  I was lucky enough to be gifted a student ticket. Still have my Mcard from a few years ago. How closely do they look at the Mcards upon entry? Or should I validate and not chance it?

Even if Ok State is the #4, wouldn’t the SEC winner and #1 seed select Miami over Dallas? Does the #1 seed pick or does the Committee simply decide what is fair?

Question for knowledgeable people.  Is there any scenario in which Michigan wins on Saturday and then gets scheduled to play in Miami instead of Dallas?  Asking because I live in South Florida.

Bizarre comment. Ideally, our players would be “relevant” during college and also get drafted.  But, what do you mean you’d rather them be relevant during their Michigan careers?  Do you mean as opposed to succeeding in the NFL?

As fans, we need to do a better job understanding that players don’t exist merely to give the fanbase excitement during the season.

Because I can’t.  I don’t…

Because I can’t.  I don’t know the answer.

Can someone please help me…

Can someone please help me understand how anyone is able to assess the relative efficacy of economic lockdown vs. no economic lockdown?  We don't know what would have happened if there was no economic lockdown.  Mortality rates could have been much higher than what we're seeing now.  That's why I don't understand the argument that the mortality rate is XYZ so therefore we did not need or may no longer need the lockdown.

Saying that there is "no…

Saying that there is "no evidence" that shelter in place is any more effective than social distancing is different from saying that social distancing would have been equally effective at preventing spread vs. shelter in place.  We don't know if social distancing alone would have been as effective and the head of the CDC seemed to think that it would not have been as effective.

What I wrote is that it is…

What I wrote is that it is not fair to characterize him as a quitter. In my opinion, that is true. I would venture to bet most people are not calling Karan a quitter simply because of the fact that he left the team. They're calling him a quitter to demean him. Quitter has a negative connotation. You wouldn't call a guy a quitter who reasonably prioritized his family over a game. Not sure why someone would do so here, unless they meant to demean the guy. And, my point is that it's not right to demean the guy over his decision here.

It's not fair to…

It's not fair to characterize him as a quitter. First of all, he put his body through tremendous stress and sacrifice for our benefit. Second of all, players prioritize family obligations over football not infrequently and we don't call them quitters. For example, a player may miss a football game to attend a family funeral. We wouldn't say that such a player quit on his teammates. My point is not that skipping a game to attend a funeral is the same as skipping a game because you believe that doing so could cost you money. My point is that it's reasonable to prioritize family over football in some circumstances. This is one of those circumstances. Karan is a football player with a daughter and Karan by all accounts in good faith believed that he could risk his family's financial future by playing in the bowl game. I don't see why that was an unreasonable decision, which should cause this board to characterize him as a quitter.

It’s well-documented how…

It’s well-documented how hard Karan worked for his team. That work made all of our Saturdays a little bit brighter. He gave us that. He shouldn’t lose the respect and admiration that should accompany his 4 years of dedication simply because he made a business decision to prioritize his family over a meaningless game that even his playing teammates didn’t care much about. Yes, it’s fine to “like” Winovich more than Karan. But Karan gave a hell of a lot to this program. Instead of posts questioning his loyalty, we should be posting threads wishing him good luck. For his sake and his family’s sake, we all should want him to succeed. He’s one of us. This fan base needs to do a better job supporting its players.

Long time listener, first Long time listener, first time caller here. What's sad is that the current group of SAEs has done a lot to improve the image of the house. Speaking as an old-timer, the current members have distinguished themselves from the SAEs of old. It's a good group. On the merits, they don't deserve to lose the right to organize their event. They're suffering because the national fraternity's views of the UM chapter were colored by actions taken by students that haven't been on campus for many years. This is unfortunate. Tradition aside, Mudbowl is a fun event that brings the community together for a good cause. It generates around $20K per year for Mott, which probably puts it towards the top tier of student events in terms of dollars raised. We don't have enough events like this one. Hopefully, the administration takes a careful look at the facts on the ground before making a decision one way or another.
