Great video

Terrific work, well synced with the music, and holy cow, I may have a new favorite song! Who is that?

Isn't it though?

Are you really surprised you don't hear anything about a state run conservatively that is doing well in this day and age? For that matter, aside from Illionois and California, do you really hear anything about any state's fiscal situation if you don't live there?

even those states are only heard of for their massive failure to manage themselves responsibly.

Regardless, I acknowledge my point could have been better stated, however, listening to people whose legislature is an abject failure criticize someone else's smacks of hypocrisy to me. apparently, I am alone in that regard.

I disagree

but I appreciate your reasoned response. A forum with opposing viewpoints that don't devolve into name-calling, etc is a pleasant place to be. Thank you.

my last reply on this

As opposed to the guy who takes out loans, spends the money on things other than what he said he needed it for, and never pays it back? Yeah, well....

Close

The point being made is, Iowa's legislature is doing a great job running the state, and before people in Michigan, whose legislature is doing a positively terrible job criticize Iowa, they should probably check themselves.

Its a bit like a broke man criticizing a hard-working man's purchase of an expensive car.

I live in Iowa

While no right-thinking person would argue that this isn't petty and silly, I would like to point something out. One of Iowa's biggest legislative issues for the last few years is that we are breaking our own laws by having TOO MUCH money on hand.

We are only permitted to have a certain amount of surplus money on hand, with the rest to be spent on reinvesting into the state somehow, through roads, education, social services, whatever.

I would contrast that with the sorts of things my home state of Michigan is in the news for, and respectfully advise to look to your own glass houses first, before you criticize this particular state.

60 yard fullback dives?

I read the post, and have nothing to add but this;

Have we reached a point where a 30 yard fullback dive isn't enough? When I think of this play, 3 yards is a good outcome. Asking for 60 is a bit much to me.

I applaud the rest of the post and enjoyed it.

it was her phone

How, exactly, did he film her, against her wishes, with her phone?

Also, what do we have, aside from the word of someone who admittedly can't remember the entire night, that says she didn't send the videos to him herself?

This is way too big a deal for his life to decide he's guilty because someone who can't remember what they did or didn't do says they can remember what he did.

This smells like Duke Lacrosse.

if that's true

Why isn't she being held responsible, and having her name drug through the mud for having sex with someone who couldn't give consent?

logged in for this

I read every post to this point, and logged just to make this point. She consented to sex, by her own admission. She is drunk, so cannot consent. Fine, whatever.

He consented to sex, by his own admission. He was drunk, so he cannot consent.

Both parties admit they both made the decision to have sex with each other, willingly. Both parties admit they can't remember what happened through the entire night. How, then can anyone in their right mind claim the male in this party is the one in the wrong, based solely on the fact she said so?

It isn't victim-blaming to point out drunk women can make decisions they will regret the next day. Unless I missed something, there is nothing that indicates he forced her into the video, and the "distribution" sounds to me an awful lot like apple's automatic backup service.

Just because she doesn't think "sober her" would agree to making a sex film and sharing it with her partner doesn't mean "drunk her" didn't, and I haven't seen anything yet that indicates that isn't what happened.

Finally, telling a man that a drunk woman can do as she pleases without consequence, but a drunk man is responsible for all good (or bad) decision made together is the very definition of sexism.

LTT may well have a problem. He may well have a "gift" for talking drunk women into having sex with him and filming it, but to say those are crimes where he alone is responsible for the decisions they made together is indefensible.

Is that total, or just

Is that total, or just rushing or passing? If total, wouldn't that have to push us up to #1 overall?

So am I

Me too

Honest answer...

annoyed. I'm really tired of people selling our team and coach short. Harbaugh took SF from low end team to serious contender in ZERO seasons.....Stanford in what, 2? We were not short on talent last year, and we aren't this year.

Nice road whites, too.

ok I give...

what does this mean?

Holy Crap

I got goosebumps on my head! Awesome!

Grbac to howard.

I was

Grbac to howard.

I was watching with my late father, and neither of us could believe a michigan team would even try something so UNconservative.

If we MUST make a change, I

If we MUST make a change, I wouldn't mind seeing us go with white base, maize wings outlined in dark blue, dark blue masks. I would prefer the numbers OR the stickers, but that's me.The general idea is similar to the Chargers' helms.

I would withhold judgement til I saw a pic of the metallic though.

I have to disagree with his

I have to disagree with his statment that we're "above them". They beat us. That simply puts them on our level. They will never ever be what Michigan is, but they had their shot and they won the game. Therefore, they are, by default, worthy competition. It beats the heck out of another Eastern Michigan beatdown, and that is how you GET history between schools.

Also, no one remembers VA Tech getting pasted by James Madison, and who would have anything to say about it if they made a home-and-home outside of hokie land? We aren't the only ones to lose a game like that. It ONLY mnatters because it was Michigan. If it wasn't Michigan, no one would remember 2 years later.

As an aside, Im always tickled by OSU fans bringing that up, as they forget their annual single digit scrapes with the like of OHIO (the bobcats) and Toledo and Cincy. One of these days.....it'll be them. Navy beat Notre Dame, Ohio will beat OSU, it's just gonna happen.

Again, I point to the raving

Again, I point to the raving abouyr Alabama's NFL level defense last year, when they didn't face an offense ranked above something in the 80s all year except Arkansas (I think). Their defense was rated highly because Bama is so good.

Our defense was rated highly because the offenses in the B1G were just putrid and incapable of moving the ball on my old high school defense (Davison, MI, we were awful).

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. They rotate winning programs just like other conferences do, and while they have a few programs at the top consistently for a decade or so (LSU, Bama), they also have the underachievers, like Georgia and Tennessee, then the rest, like SC, who pulled out a freak division title, much akin to Purdue or Northwestern winning one once a decade or so in the B1G. Just like us, they're top heavy, just with 4 big teams, (remember, they had more teams than we did for a while), and a bunch of middling squads, then the bottom feeders, like kentucky and vandy, and the Mississippis.

For us it's Usually Mich, OSU, Wiscy, and PSU that are perennial strong teams, with Purdue and Illinois and NW and Iowa and State making pushes every now and then, and then we get to the Indianas and gopherquest.

If you put B1G teams in the same poll places as SEC teams, and penalized them the same way, you'd see a lot more credit to Okie State losing last year on a day of tragedy, and Bama being properly penalized for blowing their big shot by dropping in the polls properly.

The first football game I can

The first football game I can remember is the 9-0 Michigan vs 9-0 Iowa in 85 or 86, with Jamie Morris and Jim Harbaugh. My father watched UM football every saturday it was on TV, and I was right there with him. I learned to hate Notre Dame in those years (Damn Rocket Ismael!), and saw the Desmond Howard catch as it happened.

My father remarried, to a woman with 2 daughters who decided to be Sparty fans, just for the rivalry, and the year Desmond was interfered with was horrible. We were young then, thinking that the number of items one owned pertaining to our team showed who was the greater fan.

When I grew up and joined the army, I missed most of the 97 season, but was home for the Rose Bowl, which was the last game I got to see with my father before he died.

Now, I tend to move a lot, but my children will always hear daddy shouting "Touchdown, MICHIGAN!" in his best imitation of Keith Jackson every single saturday. I have number 16 jerseys, home and away (from John Navarre, not Denard), and I wear the matching one to the team, she wears the other. If we score while she is in the room, she is not allowwed to leave until the half is over, just in case. I refuse to be responsible for any losses in my house. If it worked against Minnesota and Wisconsin, it will be upheld from now on!

My kids were shocked when I bought a red Ford Bronco this year, which I only kept a few months before trading in on something without such an objectionable color.

Michigan football is one of the constants my family is based around, providing a bit of continuity when we move so often.

two things....
As always, I

two things....

As always, I wish the best for Tate. I will always remember the Notre Dame drama and Illinois shootout.

Next, what is an NFL pivot?

Since the line in caps was

Since the line in caps was missed....

I do not believe it was a ploy, however, what about the kids on that team, who worked hard, practiced, and played well enough, only to get their chance at a championship yanked from them, through no fault of their own. After all, it isn't like kids in a conservative catholic school have any other choice.

So, because it is not YOUR

So, because it is not YOUR beleif, it is bullshit? Last time I went to war, it was so that people in this country could do just this very sort of thing.

That said, freedom of speech is not the same as freedom from the consequenses of saying something inflammatory.

You do NOT hear about it

You do NOT hear about it happening in conservative catholic schools more than once a decade. You hear about children protesting in schools in relatively liberal, usually public schools.

Well, the Pius team took

Well, the Pius team took their stand. They do not have any obligation to abandon it. It was known well before the championship how they felt. It was known well in advance what would happen if their opponents chose to play a girl.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!

However, who is to say that the opposing team did not choose to play the girl in the championship, simply knowing the Pius team would then be forced to forfeit? Id guess that is something that has crossed the minds of the poor kids from Pius that were denied the chance to play for the championship they had earned a crack at.

Well, to turn this on its

Well, to turn this on its head, perhaps the school that forfeited would have a complaint. After all, they made their views known well before this girl was allowed to play.

They stuck by their rules, and no, the girl's team wins a championship by forfeit, just having her on their team, meaning they deliberately chose to deny the school with the "archaic" views a chance to play for the title.....

Not a reflection of my views, but I can see the argument. Somehow, given the context, I don't really want to call it devil's advocate.

Well, to hit on the points of

Well, to hit on the points of Bama's weak schedule, IIRC, they played something like 2 top 80 offenses last year, didn't they? Im sure I heard about that during the run up to the borefest that was the national title game.

When Big Ten defenses scored out well, it was because the offenses in the conference were awful, but when Bama scored out well (in metrics), it was because they were dominant?

Whatever is easiest to

Whatever is easiest to remember, the fact remains, we could go through another decade like this, and still be ahead of Ohio in the series. Restoring dominance implies being ahead.

methinks they sold their

methinks they sold their soul if they gave up control of their own branding.

Guiness, along with grilled

Guiness, along with grilled pork chops, asparagus, mushrooms, and romaine lettuce. Love the lettuce on the grill.

That's is just disappointing.

That's is just disappointing. Sparty or not, you have to be at a really low point to do something like that. Maybe its a product of playing for golden state.

I can't imagine any Toledo

I can't imagine any Toledo fan thinks their coach would NOT bolt for a B1G gig if they came calling. Its a reality of being a fan of a place like that.

Is this a reference to

Is this a reference to something like a movie? I really don't get it.

Huh? Really? You break one of

Huh? Really? You break one of the bigger scandals in recent memory, and the NCAA makes it EASIER for you to move on? How is this right?

Is this really normal, and we just don't hear about it regularly? Is this happening at other schools as we speak, and it's only being reported because it's Ohio?

So, why is it great defense,

So, why is it great defense, when SEC offenses are down, but lousy offense when big ten defenses look good statistically?

Well, they're also down

Well, they're also down something like 4-5 starters and 2-3 backups on d, as well. Do that to the ravens and they'll be struggling.

The undisciplined idiocy is just adding to that.

He's just lucky he isn't a

He's just lucky he isn't a south american soccer player. They tend to shoot people for plays that dumb down there.

and there it is.

Sparty

and there it is.

Sparty NOOOOOOOO

really great effort, but a

really great effort, but a good call there. Where was that call when we were looking for it?

These guys are genuinely

These guys are genuinely excited to be doing this game. Im glad to see and hear their enthusiasm. After weeks of Spielman crushing my fun watching UM games with his hate of our team and undying praise for all things buckeye.

That said, does anyone else feel Wisconsin did that last drive through sheer player grit, despite the work of their coaches?

That drive reminded me of UTL, when Denard was throwing prayers, and the good guys kept coming down with them.

What would it take for us to

What would it take for us to draw K state or WVU? As I posted before, I really don't want to take on a top 5 team yet. We're better, but Im tired of seeing a 10-15 ranked UM team getting splattered in de-facto road games in bowls against top 5 teams.

Until this game, I didn't

Until this game, I didn't think MSU could hang with the ducks. However, I think this team would have flipped the score in their bowl game last year. They are absolutely wicked.

Once they got their heads out of their asses after spotting them badgers 21, they have been awfully impressive.

As I type, of course, they're forgetting about that defense thing again.....

In another year or 2, then

In another year or 2, then let us take on the #2 team in the country in a bowl. For now, why the hell can't we draw the big least champ, or someone a little easier?

Im really damn tired of drawing matchups like USC in california, SEC teams in the florida, etc, where its a road game for us, essentially a home game for them. If they're such beasts every bowl season, I say, let's play Arkansas at Kinnick stadium or soldier field, and see how that goes.

But I'm just bitter.

Do you think they'd still

Do you think they'd still beat us today, if we played again in the dome in Indy? I don't. I think it's a bit more like Clemson and VaTech. Not the same teams now as they were when they played earlier in the year.

This adds nothing to the thread, but...

I share your pain. This is why I refer to the holidays as Christmas with the Springer Family, because only Jerry Springer could come up with a group of people like this all in one place.

Crhistmas present opened on the 25th for a baby that was miscarried in the summer? Who does that?

Yeah, even with my homer

Yeah, even with my homer glasses as far off as I can get them, it seems like Mattison has done the most with the least.

I really dont mean to disparage the guys who played for us this year, as they did all the real work. The point Im trying to make is that Mattison did it with walk-ons and freshmen littering his line-up, while LSU and Alabama did it with oversigning and NFL athletes all over the place. I feel signing free agent quarterbacks who come in with 3-4 years of big-time experience isn't really as impressive as a 99 place turnaround in what is to me, at least, the real stat of a defense, scoring defense.

I cannot wait to see what happens when we have a defense full of Crables and Bergesses, with Mattison calling the zone blitz packages. Our guys did such an amazing job this year, setting the bar so high for those who come after, the idea that it is only going to get better from here is enough to make me giddy.

I didnt downvote you,

I didnt downvote you, but....huh? Did you listen to him during the game?

Spielman spent the first half referring to OSU as "Us" and um as "them". It was blatant how hard he was on UM, and singing he glory of everything osu did. For the second week in a row, he really detracted from my enjoyment of the game. It felt like watching the wings-sharks series, when we had to listen to the other team's announce cre during road games.

Excepting only the bad call on the Fitz TD, he was as far from unbiased as could be.

One more thing Id like to

One more thing Id like to point out is how many times this year we saw people desperately breaking tendencies just against us. Ferentz going for it on 4th down in ( I think) the 1st quarter? Ohio passing the ball around like they thought they were houston?

This looks like people desperate to deal with what we're doing from a game-plan standpoint, where they felt they had to change what they do, in order to deal with what we do. When was the last time we saw that happen?

Actually, after seeing we can

Actually, after seeing we can still score 35-45 points with a ball control offense, Im not so worried about Houston. Sure they can score, but only when they have the ball. I think we can do to them what we did to Nebraska, and walk away with a 44-24 win.
