in future conference expansion worries me. It is the regional aspect of college sports that adds a lot of intensity and intrigue to regular season matchups (ahem, see Mich v. State). Seeing teams like Boise State and Houston in the Big East just doesn't sit well with me.
Playing Nebraska the next few years is gonna be interesting. Both defenses face a similar quarterback everyday in practice so will they be more effective than other teams at containing them?
This was a good read and I agree with what you're saying. RRod/GERG seem confident that we'll score 40 a game and are happy to give up 25 or 30 points to the opposition. I just can't wait until we have corners and safeties who can make play after play on the ball. Hoping this happens next year as everyone knows our schedule is set up to make quite a run
I don't get all the V. smith complaints....Is he an explosive back? No, not really. But runs north/south successfully and is reliable at holding on to the football. Not everyone can be Denard...
Has to be ecstatic about this. The tournament will basically have the same feel except that now most fans get to watch all of the games, instead of depending on the wacky editing of CBS. This is great news.
Roundtree was our most impressive wideout for the second half of last year..I'm hoping he's out there as a reliable (but not as explosive) slot or quicker outside receiver.
But since that is unlikely to happen, the idea of 5 big east/big 12 north teams is not too exciting. A 16 team super conference with the longshots (texas, ND) is an actual SUPER conference. Adding Rutgers, UCONN, Pitt, Mizzou, Syracuse, etc.. just adds a whole lot of middle tier teams to a conference that is already pegged as mediocre in the national media.
We've seen this through the last few years, and we've also seen that games are won in many different ways. I hope we can win some games with stingy defense, but I think we all have to get used to the offensive unit being the soul of Michigan Football under Rodriguez. Oh yea, BEAT OSU
1) SEC - still the best but not by much
2) PAC10 - Deeper in the middle than most years
3) ACC - Most Underrated Conference
4) Big12 - Most Overrated Conference
5) Big10 - Will rise starting next season
6) Big East - Better than expected but still far behind
