| 11 weeks 5 days ago | I think he should be |
I think he should be ineligible, not because of those technicalities, but because he's 24. It's not fair and it's not safe for men in their athletic prime to be playing against 18 year olds, I didn't like it when it was Brandon Weeden and I don't like it now, and it further blurs the line in my opinion between collegiate athletics and professional sports. |
| 16 weeks 2 days ago | The whole point was |
The whole point was cherrypicking data points, my entire thing was that we aren't interesting the top talent in the country. This is a very good recruiting class, with a huge number of high quality commits at a number of key positions, they're just not getting in on these kids who will be impact playmakers from their freshman year most likely. The wider point is: this is Michigan, we should be able to attract a lot of 4-stars when they can come in and play but to have great classes year in year out you need to be able to get the guy who doesn't give a damn about depth because he's that good. |
| 16 weeks 2 days ago | Well yeah, the class looks |
Well yeah, the class looks better if you look at the recruiting site that rates Michigan's class best, 247 gives no 5 stars, and the highest rated player that was even close to coming to M was no 28. And to be honest, the bulk of our class was brought in when OSU were coming off a terrible year and notre dame were still notre dame. And those were Midwest recruits almost exclusively. How many players in the top 25 were Michigan considered by compared to SC, OSU and ND? |
| 16 weeks 2 days ago | I wouldn't say that michigan is recruiting 'so well' |
Last couple of classes have been good, Michigan classes, but we're still a step behind the likes of Alabama, ND, USC, OSU etc in terms of bringing in top shelf talent, and the only way to change that is to win big 10 championships. |
| 20 weeks 1 day ago | I think he wants to coach in |
I think he wants to coach in the NFL, but he's smart enough to not accept the first poisoned chalice that comes his way; if he's offered the Eagles job I think he'd take it. He does seem like a good guy and I'm sure he would feel bad to leave these kids and his recruits, but this is the time to leave if he's gonna; recruits can still decommit, players can still transfer and he can still claim that it's about the sanctions, not the NFL. |
| 45 weeks 3 days ago | This is almost guaranteed to |
This is almost guaranteed to be won by a breakaway: the last climb's too hard for cancellara to hope to defend the jersey so shack won't bother chasing them down, and the final climb is too short to open any big gaps. Also that graphic is a bit misleading, it goes above 10% in a few places but it averages about 8.5%: still too tough for cancellara/sagan et al but don't expect wiggins or evans to lose much. |

Real lost to Bayern last week, a 'tie' gets them diddly poo |

You've written a lot of the same stuff in 'Scorned' as in 'Fortunate Fool', guessing you moved it in a late edit and didn't delete the original. As for Dunn, dude stood on the M sideline for the Ohio game, when everyone knew that Urban Meyer was going to be their coach. Meyer must be able to talk his way into Jill St. John's bed if Dunns stays a Buckeye after that. |

How depressing is it that when I thought to myself that Michigan could be ranked ahead of OSU, I then thought 'wouldn't that be nice.'

It's 2 games, and denard isn't solely to blame, but dude can't throw. |
| 1 year 43 weeks ago | Cancellara will win, Tony |
Cancellara will win, Tony Martin will be second. Evans really should win the tour, but he should've won in 08 and he choked, so who knows. I hear what you're saying about them killing off the time trial, but it's the best way of making it so the tour is won in the mountains, and not by some wheel sucker like evans. Personally I think they should have a massive mountain time trial over 2 hc climbs, but I guess they would have to close the roads for too long. |
| 1 year 43 weeks ago | Yes, I would think you'll see |
Yes, I would think you'll see some action from the contenders on the final climb, maybe the margins will be a little bigger this time since it's a much tougher stage...it won't be for the stage victory though, last classic breakaway stage. Hopefully someone other than thor will win. |
| 1 year 44 weeks ago | HTC |
It'll be interesting to see what HTC announce tomorrow wrt their future, crazy that they struggle for sponsors given how dominant Cav is in the tour, not to mention Tony Martin, Peter Velits et al. It's a good job that, given how dull the overall has been, the green jersey competition is the most exciting it's been in years; Cav is cleaning up in the sprints but Gilbert will be a threat for the stage on Wednesday no doubt, Rojas will no doubt get some points also. |
| 1 year 44 weeks ago | Ah good stuff, Phil's been |
Ah good stuff, Phil's been doing the tour far longer than I've been alive, love their passion. |
| 1 year 44 weeks ago | Today's stage was a total |
Today's stage was a total anticlimax, biggest climb of the race so far and all the contenders just sat watching each other all day. That's why Voeckler was able to keep yellow, and why Vanendert was able to just ease away, he was thinking 'seriously? This is as fast as we're going? Might as well attack then.' I'm worried that the Schlecks are happy with their gap over Contador, so they're just gonna sit back and get destroyed by Evans in the time trial. Out of interest, which commentators do they have on the American coverage? |
