I wanted to post the link, but not sure if we want to send this guy traffic? But it's out there...

Couldn't give one crap about what that dipship says.   I can only guess that the OP is the only person that actually listens to him.

I mean Zack Smith nearly brought down OSU. thats something that we couldn't do for the last 15 years. Give the man credit where credit is do. he's a screwup and a horrible human being who almost did the world a favor and brought the evil dynasty down.

Ooops, wasn't posting to be so vague, I'm actually still listening. Was only posting because of the pertinent information regarding how Warinner coaches.

I accept my Negs.

Summary so far.

Warinner doesn't know how to verbalize playcalling.
Can't believe he got hired to be OC.
Demotivating speeches.
Wife is OUTRAGEOUS.
Players recorded speeches to make fun of Ed.
Etc....

I would agree for sure on the first two points. He's not a play caller and he's not an OC. The biggest misconception in football is that good coaches have to be super rah rah and get dudes insanely fired up with a fantastic fuckin speech. I would say intensity and getting to the point goes a long way, you don't need to be Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday to get dudes to play hard.

Will not speak on his wife, do not know her, do not know of her.

Every player makes fun of his position coach, and if Zach Smith never found out they made fun of him, it's because they hated him so much that they couldn't talk about it. I guarantee you Chase Winovich, Devin Bush, or another defensive player has put on a fake mustache and talked in a deep New England accent to make fun of Don Brown. I'd guarantee it to death.

A buddy of mine played for Brown at Plymouth St. back in the 90s and still makes fun of him to this day.  After watching the Amazon series he says Brown yells the same shit while pointing his broken pinkie.  He likes to imitate him yelling at the guys that they better effin stop the GD run or he will literally kill them.  It's pretty funny.  It's a nice little thing to have in common as there aren't many college football fans up here in Maine.

There's two types of making fun of the coach: The type you do in the open because you respect them, and the kind you'll never do in public because you hate the coach to death. Everyone makes fun of their coaches, its going to happen when you spend that much time with people.

I know OSU hired him as OC . . . assume he knows Michigan did not. I don't know about his speeches, but I know the OL is much more motivated. Know nothing about Ed's wife, but as for Zach stating this, that's sure a case of the pot calling the kettle black. As for players recording speeches to make fun of the coach, that's kind of bad form. Don't much like that.

1. Why does Zach Smith have a podcast?

2. Why are you listening to said podcast?

3. Why are you taking anything Zach Smith says seriously?

Seriously.  We liked him for a little while because he was saying bad things about Ohio State but literally the worst thing Ohio State did was fail to disassociate themselves with him.  He's deranged, delusional, and a liar.  Nothing that comes out of his mouth has any credibility whatsoever.

Absolutely 0 barrier to entry. Any moron with a microphone can start a podcast. Shit, look at talk radio. They have equally stupid people yelling at a microphone and those people were selected!

I can only give you but 1 upvote.

Not even close. Unless Ed did basically a complete 180. Or unless the military culture protected us I have no clue. All I know is as a DB I was on the receiving end of some nasty OL blocks. If an OL hit me in the back or did an illegal block, he would tell the OL - You can't that - loudly!

That is literally it...

From what I know about Ed, he's a prototypical lineman coach, and seeps off intensity and hard nosed play. Dude is a technician, and great work ethic. That being said, from what I heard, it absolutely would not surprise me if he said some absolutely ridiculous things in pregame/half time speeches as OC because he was trying too hard to be something he's not.

I am just amazed that Zach Smith can stay out of custody and booking long enough to put together a podcast. Is it called something like "What This Bottle Of Rumchata Is Telling Me"?

I actually think it's a pretty good podcast.  Could do without the mudslinging of guys he used to work with (Warinner and Tom Herman especially so far) but he offers some real behind the scenes info.  Not that I think he is some standup guy but at least he doesn't claim to be innocent either.

How many guys like anyone else's wife?  Other people's wives, especially those of friends & coworkers, are often just seen as someone to get in the way of our shenanigans.  You see all the bad...the nagging, getting mad at the husband, etc. and none of the good.  Granted, they get a very nice lifestyle supported by the salary, but I can't imagine all the nonsense the wife of a coach at a P5 school must have to endure.  The poor wives never had a chance.

I love him because he confirms every notion I have about Ohio State. Honestly, I’m surprised Michael Drake is still the president there. Ohio State is trying to have their cake and eat it too and it’s just awkward— they want so bad to be Michigan in academics and Alabama in football. Also, funny how so many coaches there past and present have a stink on them now: Urban, ZS, Larry Johnson (paterno), Schiano (ZS blackmail?), Wilson (player abuse), Herman, now Warriner (lol), list goes on. Only guys I can think of that left on good terms are Coombs, Fickell (ran out of town), and Stan Drayton, who lied to Weber the whole night before going to the bears. Hell, even Vrabel choked Urban before taking his NFL job. Drake must be shitting himself trying to corral all the trash. 100% believe urban will do all he can to get Drake out and take the university back over the next 2 years. Hope it happens, it’s weird them having a respectable leader.

I don't like the Ed Warriner hire one bit.  Never have, never will.  His reputation as an A-hole precedes him and all the stuff Smith said today on his podcast is stuff that has been floating around for years. Notre Dame players and boosters were ecstatic when OSU hired him away.  Likewise, PJ Fleck sent him packing before Harbaugh picked him up off the scrap heap.

If Harbaugh "expands his role" as Ed was demanding it will undermine the improvements Gattis is making.  From what I know about Ed, he thinks he should be a head coach and another year goes by without a single offer.

The only silver lining is that Ed Warriner was the OC who cost Urban's best OSU team a chance to defend their title.  I bet that season will haunt Urban until the day he dies.

The absolute worst thing about Zach Smith, other than the fact that he has genital warts where his dimples should be:

He's another example of OSU benefitting from their moral turpitude - their reward for covering up a domestic abuser for 6 years was to get an actually good WR coach in Brian Hartline.
