Last second buzzer beater was killer. But I'd probably place him behind Troy Smith and Chris Gamble
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Last second buzzer beater was killer. But I'd probably place him behind Troy Smith and Chris Gamble
Agreed on Turner. That buzzer-beater was the worst sports punch-to-the-gut I've endured.
I hate them all.
I agree! Is there a Buckeye that I shouldn't hate?
but Jesse Owens would be an example. On a better note, I <3 John Cooper.
Does Tressel count? I still can't stand that sanctimonious asshole.
I can't hate Chris Spielman. From how he played the game to his time with the Lions and on to his support of his dying wife and her charity after she passed, he is a pretty stand up guy.
Now, AJ Hawk, Andy Katzenmoyer, and Troy Smith are three that I can easily hate. The worst might be that big mouthed, roid freak David Boston.
I don't remember spielman as a buckeye, but I loved him as a lion...
Gary Moeller was an OSU captain in 1963 and I don't hate him.
All of them.
Pryor, Claret, Boren Vader.
too many to really name.
I love Pryor!! Why would anyone hate Pryor after all he's done to them?
Yep. First one that came to mind. Boston. Total thug. Visited Ann Arbor for recruiting only to talk smack about how he, and Ohio State were going to kick our asses. That play where he was sent sailing by a Michigan safety in '97, and landed on his ass and crumpled into a puddle, was one of my top 5 favorit plays vs OSU ever.
Troy Smith a distant second only because of how good he was against us. Without him we win 06 and another Game or two.
Troy Smith, I hated him so much, not just for his play, but he was the first public instance of Tressel and OSU cheating, and yet no one seemed to care about it at the time. See, I'm upset again. O*** is and will always be a four letter word.
How about a heaping helpful of Maurice Clarett?
If by "not care" you mean "repaid the money and was suspended for two games," then you nailed it.
I think Troy Smith's aggravating mobile quarterback antics set the stage for michigan to move to a spread offense under RR. ( There were other mobile qb's that torched michigan too, but I feel like smith was the last straw which at least started the desire to move toward the spread... ). If this theory is true, then Troy smith is also responsible for not just beating us that year, but years after because he ushered RR into town...
I hate him... I never cared to look into why he didn't stay in state, other than the fact that M had way better QB's than him filling water bottles.
But really, I just hate all Buckeyes.
Krenzel wanted to come to Michigan but his spot was taken by Drew Henson. I've met Krenzel, real nice guy. One of the few ohio players I don't hate.
I thought you were talking about AJ Hawk until the last sentence.
Hawk was easy to hate due to the slobber-fest that Brent Musberger always had with him when he played.
AJ Hawk was such an ugly kid
Woody Hayes, Jim Tressel, Terrelle Pryor, Maurice Clarett...
Oh, you only wanted one?
Boston. Hands down.
One of my favourite memories is the Marcus Ray hit on Boston in the 97 game. Also don't like Chris Spielman, but only because he didn't stick up to his father and come play for Bo!
It didn't help that he killed us, but there was always something about him that I didn't like. He was shady from the start at OSU when he accepted cash from a booster, and I can just imagine the things that went on with him while at OSU, all while Tressel turned the other way.
Second is Zach Boren.
It's a bit weird to just hate kids because they play for another team. If you have "sound" reasoning like the OP states, so be it, you can't help your feelings. I can't say that I hate any of the Buckeyes I've seen play through the years. I didn't like that Troy Smith torched us, but I sure as hell don't hate him.
How about this. This one I can be okay with. I hate Jim Tressel and most of what he stands for.
I'll be your host on your tour through the internet. You could take the crash course at 4chan or you could gradually work your way through the subreddits of reddit. Many haters and n00b fagg0ts await you.
The fact that many OSU fans lionize Woody Hayes because of and not in spite of The Punch tells you everything you need to know about their fanbase.
Do we do the same for Gary Moeller? I didn't realize why he was fired until I watched the documentary about the '97 championship team.
The Michigan difference: we were all ashamed that Moeller acted like a jackass in public and consider it a black mark against an otherwise good record. Ohio diehards point to Woody's punch as proof positive of his passion to win.
Well I hate all of them, but my top 5 is very similar to the posters on the board
4. Troy Smith
5. David Boston
1. He is from the Houston area and went to a school that knocked us out of the playoffs.
2. His dad was an NFL ref.
3. He used steroids.
4. He put his hands on Chuck.
Loved seeing him upended in the 'GAME' by Mr. Ray.
All the Borens.
EDIT (for the visual types):
my least favorite way to be poked in the eye?
Never a big fan of David Boston or that other WR who mouthed off before the game in the 90's.
Terry Glenn. But we shut him up too.
I think you meant Michigan shut "her" up.
All of them. I was unaware that there was a Buckeye I should like. Aside from maybe John Cooper. But if I had to pick a few:
Jim Tressel (cheater or not, the guy had Michigan's number, and we all know it)
I like and respect Jesse Owens. The look he put on Hitler's face..... Priceless. I'm good with buckeyes who stick it to Nazis.
I like how for us the only thing worse than OSU is the Nazis, that pretty much sums it all up for me. To rank worst people ever 5. Most bad people, 4. Genghis Khan, 3. Stalin, 2. OSU players, 1. Hitler.
He drives me nuts because his face is everywhere, pretends to be objective and professional. Makes me physically il when he blabbers on.
are you any relation to BigBoutros?
These are the Buckeyes I hate most. Specifically, every father and grandfather that lines the streets outside the stadium on the day of The Game every even-numbered year. They hold their young sons and daughters with one hand, and give me and everyone else in Maize and Blue the middle finger with the other other hand. The cycle goes on and on.
Urban Meyer, though we need to hate quickly as he'll likely implode again in another 2-3 years
Don't hold your breath on that.
Beanie Wells/T. Pryor
What, no votes for Smith & Gee?
They say shit rolls downhill, so with that in mind: Gee, Tressel, Gene Smith. In no particular order.
This blog might have been written by the WLA. I can't remember for sure, but it's still awesome.
4. Gordon Gee 5. Gene Smith
All the rest.
Eddie George tops my list, followed closely by Troy Smith
Eddie George is a f'in douche. Glad he was outshined his last game by Biakabatuka.
All the ones over hyped in college and bust in pros!! Hahaha losers!
I was going to say Pryor until I remembered Justin Boren. Don't like the workouts fatass, that's fine, leave, but don't slam the program on your way out.
... Is too strong an emotion on which to expend the energy for buckeyes. For them, I feel nothing but pity.
Jim Tressel and it's not even close.
Seriously.....all of them.
I'm with B-Nut-GoBlue in that I can't hate on people 10 years younger than me for choosing to play for another program that is very similar to the program I root for.
Jim Tressel though, was all the worse since he was a bigger cheater than any SEC coach we love to hate, and yet cloaked himself in the utterly cynical "Senator Tressel" thing. Can the media ever credit a coach for "doing it right" again after being burned by Tressel and Paterno? Plus the mafia-like "sacred brotherhood" culture he established there still pervades the school and its fanbase, and spread via Dantonio to MSU since. Unlike Woody, on whom at least there is general accord on the fact that he was a good ol' coach who choked a player and was rightly removed for it, Tressel wasn't even officially "fired"--just allowed to resign and retain benefits and be part of the program. It's a testament to just how sick of a place he turned Ohio State into that he remains revered by most OSU fans while Herbstreit, one of their own who suggested Tressel should be fired, was chased out of the state with death threats.
It drives me nuts at how blatant it all was--the Troy Smith lone gunman thing, the cars of Clarett to Pryor and how the taken-back testimony of Maurice turned out to be true 10 years later as well and yet the NCAA still couldn't make the case. How Pryor had to be compelled to provide even the shred they got OSU on (traveling to signing schlock ceremonies with his benefactor) by the NFL. How Santonio Holmes admitted to an agent who later came clean about his payments to players that Holmes and his buddies were already taken care of, and nobody but nobody was at all surprised. How when FINALLY all this repeated crap everyone knew about over a decade-long span became something NCAA would investigate, OSU lawyered up, gambled the NCAA wouldn't have the balls to fight a total war, and won just a one-year postseason ban while leaving the program in such a shape that Urban Meyer agreed to take it over.
Every Big Ten fan from our age will forever after walk with his head and eyes bit lower because Jim Tressel was one of ours. College football shall be forever worse because he was a part of it. He might be the greatest shame in Big Ten history, certainly in my lifetime, if not for the Penn State awful thing.
George Steinbrenner is next on the list. He took Henson from us.
You can for him being a jackass or cheating while doing it.
Boston and the traitor.
John Cooper. I love that man. His pure surprise at another beating, Tim B running past him for 300+ yards, and willingness to play thugs like Boston without success.
Would we break NCAA rules by paying for OSU to bring him back?
that name again is?
That stupid fat guy that's at every OSU game...ya, I nominate him. He takes fandom wayyyyy to far. Dude needs a girlfriend.
I can't stand him or the guy with the cape and red mustache.
When you say 'stupid fat guy that's at every OSU game', you're gonna really have to narrow it down from a pool of about 90,000
Vlade Janakievski because he was good and had a weird name. Made a lasting impression on a teenage macdaddy. And from the same era, Pete Johnson because he was a HUGE RB and it seemed Iike we could never stop him.
God I hate those guys. Beat Ohio.
Mike Nugent, yeah you can hate a kicker too.
Guy seems like a skeeze and his lame attempts to try to match Hoke's rivalry bravado are weak.
You punch a guy off the sideline, you deserve large amounts of hate.
Players...Art Schlister. Liar cheat disgusting human. etc. epitomizes Ohio.
Tough choice. Boren has to be tops because you don't like the way Michigan football was being run by its coach, it's your choice to leave. But to Ohio? That's bottom-level, hellish ice pits stuff right there (sorry for the obscure Dante's Inferno reference).
Guys that personally rubbed me the wrong way... David Boston, Clarett, Ted Ginn Jr.
at YSU and Ohio, it finally caught up with him, and years later he's still being honored and revered despite the disgrace.
Meanwhile, Ohio got a coaching upgrade and a slap on the wrist.
HOW COULD YOU FORGET THE RAFFLES?!
Hmmmmm, I have to go with either David Boston or Rutherford B. Hayes.
Robert Smith? For some reason he just rubs me the wrong way on ESPN.
That Big Head is really just a Fat Head
Every last one of them.
Terry Glenn, Sanzenbacher whatever his first name is, James Laurinitis. All dbags. Antoine Winfield actually seems like a decent guy (if that's possible for an ex-Ohio player.)
I don't know much about Winfield, but I do remember him well from that EPIC 1997 Game. After Woodson, I thought he was the next best player on the field. Dude could play.
the bucknuts had a running back named Jeff Logan. I remember him saying something like "I'm just glad I don't have to play against my own defense because they hit so hard." We owned them that year, and I loved it when he carried the ball and got hit by the M defense. Typical big mouth bucknut who couldn't back it up.
I hate every ape I see, from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z.
David. Freakin'. Boston.
Although our boy Charles put the stake through his heart... I just could never stand that guy.
Other finalists include Nate Clements, Troy Smith, Katzenmoyer, and who could forget Nick Mangold. Ape.
Robert Smith because someone lets him try to talk on TV.
Evan Turner for obvious reasons. I am not a big basketball fan, but still catch every UM game from the comfort of my laptop.
Terrelle Pryor - I was convinced we'd land him way-back-when.
Stoneburner - because he has a badass name.
I can tolerate most everyone else, from Herbie to Robert Smith.
The guy didn't even pronounce his last name correctly. And he was a complete tool while playing for OSU and after he left.
I will add the caveat that I don't extend "hate" to OSU players because I don't think enough of them to expend the effort.
He was a lock for four Heisman trophies, as I recall.
And all the while he was gambling at OSU and with its future coach, Earle Bruce.
The only good thing he did was throw that interception that led to Woody Hayes hitting the Clemson player (which led to Hayes getting fired for those unaware).
Hayes started Schlichter as a freshman in 1978 instead of senior Rod Gerald, who had been the starter the year before. Gerald played at wingback instead Schlichter struggled most of the year, throwing a bunch of picks in losses to Penn State, Michigan, Purdue and Clemson.
One the great legends of Ohio football.....i think he still in jail.
The Borens, every last one of them. I hate traitors, and those related to them.
because it's all about "family values"....
Katzenmoyer broke his neck in the NFL, so it's hard to label him a "bust."
For me, it's a tie between EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, EVER.
Damn I hated that guy when I was a kid. Archie Griffen can go F himself too, though I don't remember him as a player, his legend makes me puke in my mouth a little.
He was very good. Not as great as being the only double Heisman would suggest, but he was a very good college back and probably was the best player in the country the two years he won.
Also, how has no one mentioned the omnipresent and omnipotent Kirk Herbstreit yet?
All of them, except for Reid Fragel. Same high school as him.
Justin boren! Enemy #1
Robert Smith, Spielman, Boston, George, Clarett, BWells ....you know after reading this whole thread I just can't stand them all
It's got to be the Borens. I'll go off the beaten path: James Laurinaitis. They hyped him up because of his Dad being a former pro-wrestler and stuff. The guy was a decent player and all but another example of an OSU guy being hyped up for no particular reason than he was on OSU.
who suggested that Troy Smith (and therefore Ohio) were justly punished, when Smith took money from a booster. BJR argued that this punishment "showed" that Ohio and the NCAA really cared about these transgressions--and the signal they gave about a deeper underlying problem..
That could not be further from the truth. Troy Smith this year said that he "took the rap' and that he would get a lot of other players in trouble if he talked about it. It was obvious that, at the time, the NCAA did not "care' enough to do a proper investigation. They never interviewed Clarret. It took the SI reporter a few days to find out what the NCAA said it couldn't in months. Even that would not have happened if not for a federal investigation that shined a bright light on Tressel's lying and cheating. It is now obvious that Tressel had long been covering up broader NCAA violations--just as Troy Smith (and many other buckeyes) recently intimated.
Most circles agree the SI article was 75% fiction and 25% insanity. The idea that the NCAA refuses to investigate OSU is so incredible that I can't evn suggest a logical reason why that would be a thing? Because they want to protect OSU? Why? It's just silly. I don't think Kroger is sold out of tin-foil yet, you may want to hit it up.
Who think SI just made up an article.
with Gordon Gee and from there the feces spirals downward to the untreatable septic tank
I chose Tressel, but this is an excellent point.
I hated Woody. But it was fun to hate Woody because he way Woody. Just like I'm sure the Ohio folks felt about Bo. My least favorite without a doubt is the sweater. Hypocritical cheating dirtbag.
Every buckeye fan I met in the '00s that somehow managed to forget the '90s.
That guy was terrible.
I can't stands that freakin mascot... I want to see him get tackled again who has the video
I live near the lake his parents have a cabin. After seeing him and Ross Homan out on the family boat with the 10000 watt speakers so the ENTIRE lake knows just where their at. Plus a run in at a bar he had with my brother who, god help him is a Buckeye fan. Br
A live one!
Completely agree - could not stand that guy - made it that much sweeter what Woodson did to him.
I'll tell you who I don't hate: John Cooper, miss that sum bitch.
I could never stand him, but after he kicked Braylon when he was on the ground.......definitely my least favorite of that horrible bunch.
Not only his 4 FG's to beat M 12-10 in 74 but how he said Lantry choked.
All of them.
Hated everything about that dude. From his beady eyes to his stringy, greasy
1. The Borens
3. T. Smith
6. E. Turner
The only two I can stand:
2. Nugent (I'm a Bengals fan)
I could not stand Ted Ginn. I was at a track invitational when I was a sophomore in high school. Ginn was a senior and just cocky as could be. Never had much respect for him.
He was probably the fastest guy at the meet...
I think it's got to be Boren.
David Boston, not only because he was a douche in college and bust in the NFL, but because he recently went to jail for assaulting a woman.
These guys are all dead on, especially Boston, but easily the most annoying was little Jay Burson. 86-89 was before most of your time but he made Danny Ainge seem likeable.
Hate is pretty strong word to use. Especially when you're talking about college kids playing a game. Respect your rivals and they'll bring out the best in you.
Troy Smith. Jim Tressel is a close second.
Least hated: Antoine Winfield. Guy could flat out play and wore his helmet like the martian fellow from Bugs Bunny. The original Space Emperor of Space?
Most hated: David Boston. Loved it when Keith Jackson called him out in 97.
Easy. I'm also young.
EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE WORTHLESS NUTS!
Guy was a f*ckt*rd.
That Billy Price kid is insufferable.
David Boston - 'Roided up ass-hat helped Woodson win the Heisman in a game that will forever be etched in my memory.
Troy Smith - Wow, that guy owned The Game. Shawn Crable: Lay Up Please!
Craig Krenzel - Nobody likes a ginger.
Jim Tressel - His holier than thou appearance was shown to be a mere facade.
Archie Griffin - Two Heisman's can't even make those threads look good.
Earl Bruce - NEVER, and I mean NEVER trust a man with two first names. Which brings me to my next subject.
Woody Hayes - Who has a nickname like Woody?
Eddie George - Way to break your Heisman after getting outplayed by Biakabatuka.
The Boren's - Like srsly?
Buckeye Guy- In the same bucket as Cowboy Buckeye Guy, average Buckeye fan, Brutus Buckeye, Urban Meyer, G. Gordon Gee, and that guys head who dunked it one full of piss for tickets.
*Disclaimer : Chris Speilman is almost on this list, but my love of the Lions and the way he played his ass off every play for them, will not allow full hatred status for him on my end. However, he is moving in that direction with his obvious Buckeye homerism on ESPN broadcasts,
followed by Troy Smith, Chris Gamble, Terrell Pryor, William Bufford, Evan Turner is up there for that one fucking shot, AJ Hawk for sure, Shaizer is climbing the list rapidly, but mostly that fruitcake that wears the sweater vest....BEAT OHIO
for me i hate the Borens. i hate traitors, even more when they are buckeyes.
Is it possible for someone to just post a link to every O*** roster for the last uuuummm I don't know -- 100 years?
I said this in a previous post, but he was gonna come to Michigan, but then decided to fo to OSU. What a fucking toolbag. Amirite?
Every member of the 1973 team that tried to tear down the M Club banner. I hope there is a special place in hell, or a ring of Inferno reserved for those bastards. It was just a shame the game ended in a tie.
5. Dustin Fox
