Here we go...

Quick summary: IF McCaskey and Kevin Warren have the stones, Jim should be the only guy on their shopping list.

Plenty of attractive draft picks, intriguing roster mix, new stadium in the way.

Would be the biggest thing to hit Halas Hall since Ditka.

i have not 'spent' the $2, so to speak, and i have emotional support systems in place should it come to pass that it is tragically taken away from me.  with counseling, therapy, strong family ties, in time i would recover.

by the same token though, i filed a $2 lien on your $500 gambling winnings (beautiful story, taking all those ohio fans' money.  absolutely beautiful) and you had better have put that $2 in a secure, interest bearing account until this deal is decided.  otherwise, i might have to call in some muscle....

MGrow; I'm really not trying to poke at you too much here (maybe gently)... but man, you are almost always wrong about this stuff. But you get so emotional and outspoken in your opinions. I just wish more people would step back, and really assess things from a cold, logical perspective, while keeping JH's personality traits in mind.

I'd be happy to wager you, if you like? I see no way JH leaves at this point. One nice crisp two dollar bill.

Ahhhh Timmaay, my battle-worn foe from MgoWars of long ago (I always have to double look at your name to make sure I spell it somewhat correctly)

A few non-emotional points I'd like to make:

1. I do think he'll stay but only if the NCAA doesnt do something monumentally stupid like suspend him for a significant length of time

2. The insiders have been the ones wrong, not me.  They're the ones that have literally been saying the extension is "any day now" since the beginning of the 2021 season.  I just pointed out their respective errors in predicting the extension

3. I could see him leaving if we win it all this year knowing he did what he set out to do and that the program is in very, very good shape.  Because he's definitely going to get multiple offers to do so from NFL teams.

Do I want him to leave?  Hell no.  I did after 2020 but I was wrong as were many others.

Do I think he'll go?  Probably not.  But he'll have offers absolutely nobody knows what that crazy fucker is thinking.  I guess we'll see.

If he wins it all for us, he can ride off into the sunset in peace.  Go with our blessing.

He will have given us all that we could ask for and then some.

He will be a Michigan legend they'll talk about 100 years from now.

(IMO, that is what he is doing and why no contract has been signed.  Harbaugh is waiting to see how he does in the CFP.  If he wins it all, he will go to the NFL.  He might even go to the NFL if he just wins the Rose Bowl.  That is what is going on.)

He’s about to turn 60. If someone wants to offer him an NFL job, there’s no guarantee he’d get another if he turns it down, and remember he didn’t’ t receive an offer during his prior flirtations. He’s made no secret that a Super Bowl win is his ultimate goal. Im sure an NCAA title would be his second biggest goal, but if he’s ever going to win one, this is his best shot, with his best team, in a year when both Georgia and Alabama aren’t quite what they usually are. If it doesn’t happen this year, it will probably never happen. Add to all of it that he’s in the crosshairs of both the Big 10 and the NCAA. I don’t think it matters whether Michigan wins another game this year. If he gets an offer, he’s gone.

Honestly, if Harbaugh left right now he would ride off into the sunset with all our blessing.  He has brought us from the depths to the heights (where we currently sit at #1).

However, I think that Ryan Day and Tom Petitti have greatly increased the chance that he stays long term.  Now Harbaugh has a grudge.  Plus, the Michigan administration and fans have given Harbaugh what he wants -- love and loyalty.  I suspect that Santa Ono's stalwart defense of Harbaugh means a ton to our beloved coach.

As for turning 60, you would think at that age one realizes he will not accomplish everything he wants but needs to choose what he loves.  I think Jimmy will do this and stay with his boyhood team, the Michigan Wolverines.

Counterpoint: If the Bears do follow a lot of the mock drafts and take Caleb Williams first overall, he's gone on record stating he wants part ownership of whoever drafts him. I do not see Harbaugh vibing with that type of energy because it screams of entitlement. I think that alone, plus his demeanor to stick it to the man through winning, should be enough to deter him and keep him here at Michigan. But who am I but one person behind a keyboard?

Per multiple sources, the representatives of USC quarterback Caleb Williams had been making it known to prospective agents that Williams wants partial ownership of the team that selects him in 2024, if he declares for the draft.

I know there's been a lot of discourse around the validity of "sources" being thrown around in articles due to Signgate, but this is one of many articles that were put out this year referencing the very point.

What are you ducking for? Williams is looking like he's going to be Riley's third QB drafted #1 overall, and the previous two have underperformed to say the least. Actually Hurts is the only one that's truly shined (forgot he had transferred to OU), and he was a late second round pick. So it's not exactly going out on a limb here...

That's the thing that is so crazy, it's NOT allowed at all.  Infact, it's not allowed in any of the 4 major US sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL).  Basically, as I have read, it violates the Salary Cap in the 4 major sports, among other issues.

Now obviously, once you retire, you can buy a stake in a Team (Jordan, Magic Johnson have done so) but you cannot as an active player.

This is why after everything that has happened this season, if I was a GM, i wouldn't take Williams at #1.  For starters, he didn't have a great season and played pretty bad in some of the more "important" games on USC schedule.  2nd, the fact that this story even saw the light of day tells me that either Williams just doesn't get it, or you are dealing with a Lavar Ball situation 2.0.  Either way, I don't think he is worth the headache.

Let's see...

Against Oregon - QBR 68.4

Against ND - QBR 57.8

Has thrown ... zero ... passes in the NFL or against an NFL defense.

Franchise ownership... Sure, why not just give him an option to own the entire franchise after his team's second win of the season.

How will his career stats compare with those of JaMarcus Russell.   IIRC, he was a "can't miss", franchise changing QB too.
