Urban Meyer probably started this rumor, trying to damage Michigan’s recruiting like it was damaged a year ago.  Harbaugh seems very happy with this team and his job, and said he was done with the NFL.  That’s good enough for me.

Harbaughs as goofy as it gets but he definitely seems like a man of his word. I would like to see him squash it though so it doesn’t hurt recruiting. Go after Ryan Day. After Georgia takes any last shred of hope from them he’ll have to leave town…perfect fix.

Jim gave the Vikings job all the residual interest he had in the NFL. They didn't reciprocate. He moved on.

“I called Warde (Manuel, the Michigan athletic director) and I asked him if he wanted me to be the head coach. And he said, ‘Yes, 100 percent.’ And I said, OK then. That’s what I want to do.’

“And I told him, ‘Warde, this will not be a reoccurring theme every year. This was a one time thing.”

“I’m an honest person,” he said. “There was a large pull there (for the NFL.) But I didn’t feel it was that way for both parties. And that’s it. That’s my mindset now.”

So that chapter is closed?

“Yes.”

You are 100% dedicated to Michigan?

“Yes. … Actually, I told Warde, ‘From here on out, I’m working at the pleasure of the University of Michigan, because that’s, in my heart, where I want to be.”

Don't give oxygen to this stuff. He's here until the day he hangs up his whistle for good.

And Harbaugh, for all his idiosyncrasies, is if nothing else one of the few honest football coaches. He wasn't hiding that he wanted to go to the NFL, and he's not hiding that that chapter of his life is closed now.

Rumors gonna rumor, not least because the people who start them usually have ulterior motives.

I don't think most fans would be terribly upset if Jim Harbaugh went to the NFL after winning a National Championship. That said, I don't think that will happen.  Jim Harbaugh didn't say he's staying at Michigan until he wins a title or finishes what he started or whatever. He said I'm staying a Michigan as long as they'll have me. JH is a lot of things but he doesn't strike me as a bullshitter.

Agreed. I dont think it’s in JH’s nature to be a bullshitter.  It’s been discussed before, but I do think Jim has a touch of the Asperger’s. My son does as well, and one aspect of this is that my son is, to a fault, a truth teller. He had to be taught about ‘little white lies’ in social skills class. (Sometimes he even lets you know that what he just told you was a white lie to make you feel better, haha).

We're 13-0, first time. Beat the bucknuts twice, once in the Stadium Now Known as the Bidet. Going to the CFP, second time in two years. The guy's legacy is now set as A Great Coach

Life as a Wolverine is fantastic right now and you want to buzzkill a great day with this yakyak rumor nonsense? You're like the guy who starts wondering, out loud, at a beautiful wedding ceremony if the beautiful 20-something bride will die from breast cancer by the time she's 40.

They don't have any inside information. Last night he was literally coaching a game. I doubt going to the NFL is on his mind. Maybe in February, he interviews but he's not leaking anything to anyone in the middle of a 13-0 season.

I remember when many of you wanted him gone... I remember.  Glad he stuck around and the NFL didn't want him then.

Fire culture and stars matter culter and nil or bust culture is ruining the sport.

Money has never seemed like a major factor in his life. Probably of even less importance now that he is already rich by any reasonable standards. The difference between the millions he's making now and the additional millions he could make in the NFL would have no effect on his life or his family's life.

This is a bad, bad take. Jim gave away a huge amount of his (bonus) money to the staff of the Michigan athletic department to help offset the hardships felt by these employees during the pandemic.

He was testing the NFL waters because he would like to try for a Super Bowl win again. I don't think money has anything to do with it.

He tried to get out as soon as they lost to Georgia last year. I think it depends on if he's happy with what he's accomplished. If he thinks he can keep this streak with Michigan he'll stay, if he think's he's accomplished what he can and is happy with it (and the right place offer in the NFL shows up) then he's out.

Seriously, piss off with this shit. Do you understand how much the NFL dalliance hurt our program last year? Harbaugh was unequivocal this spring that he's not considering the NFL anymore.

And this article isn't even news. The article says several NFL teams are "doing background work" on Harbaugh. Any responsible NFL front office with coaching instability is "doing background work" on all the top college coaches each year. GTFO
