Yesterdays game and the team so far

Submitted by UMxWolverines on
I feel I must post one of these after every game, to vent my feelings and such, I don't care what you think of them. and I couldn't post after the game yesterday cuz I was visiting some relatives in Columbus. Yeah, gross. Another close loss :( BUT, the future is bright. We put up 28 on one of the big tens best defenses while also having 5 turnovers. This team is still very young and very inexperienced, and once they grow up in the next year, and those turnovers don't happen anymore, they will be kicking some ass. Tate, yeah he had an off day. That interception in the beginning was the worst read I've ever seen him make. The fumble, well, the ball was probably pretty damn slippery. For the first time, it looked like he was rattled. Oh well. For his first away night game he didn't look too bad. Minor, pretty good day on the ground finally, but what was that fumble? You can't fumble in the redzone like that! Matthews? You can't muff the damn punt! Denard, you can't just chuck it up when you don't know what to do! Throw it away, or take off. Surprisingly, the defense was the bright spot! The defended the run really well in the first half, not so much in the second. But again, first and second down were well played, and any time Iowa was in the redzone they played real hard, but they got killed on 3rd downs again. 3rd and 24! Ahhhhh! 4-2 after 6 games? Not bad. Glad we get these guys at home next year for some payback. Still excited about them coming home for Delaware State and then Penn State. They better beat dsu with their eyes closed, and I still think they can beat Penn State. Other teams: Ohio State's offense: Still the same. Pryor made some really stupid passes and only passed for 87 and Wisconsin's defense isn't much better than ours. Ohio State's defense: Scares me. They really outplayed Wisconsin's huge O line by a long shot and most of their points came from the defense. Wisconsin: Don't scare me anymore. It looks like a winnable game now. Thank god we aren't Florida State. God, what a nightmare. Absolutely no defense in that game. I sure do respect Bobby Bowden, but I think it's time for him to go. Welp, that's it.

when he said "We aren't good enough to play poorly and win" last night was the perfect example. The defense played very well in spots, many actually. The O-line gave the QBs time, plenty actually. Bad judgement by the safeties a couple of times, several turnovers and Tate not being himself all contributed to this loss. I still believe Tate got his bell rung on his last drive and he injured his right hand somewhere along the game. I don't think RR wanted to say anything about it in the post-game presser so DRob's play was not a "fill-in" job. DRob performed well in his first drive, a little slow between plays, but managed it well enought to score. He obviously missed Odoms wide open for the 1st down when he threw the pick, but he is progressing. I hope both QBs bounce back quickly from this one. Both took their performances hard.. RR needs to coach them up more and scream down at them less on the sidelines. His anger face doesn't give him any bonus point on TV. Delaware State is coming at the perfect time. It's almost a bye week, but a great chance to work on QB and safety play.

I don't think he was trying to win any bonus points on TV. He was disappointed at Tate in many moments throughout the game. So if he got angry at the end, so be it. If that's his style of coaching, he should be able to be himself. I do believe he is coaching them up as much as he can. Lastly, he never was so angry at Threet or Sheridan last year, and we know how they performed. The reason RR got angry with Tate last night, I think, is that he knows Tate could do much better.

Meaning...What Would Bo Say. And this to your comment "and scream down at them less" Please. This is football. Bo NEVER hesitated to make sure his players knew exactly what's what. I find RichRod to be remarkably restrained most of the time.

Oh and did anyone else see Mouton arguing with RR? That is total bullshit. You don't fucking argue with your coach. And it was a pretty obvious penalty! Just state your case (and he didn't have much of one) and don't do it again! He better get that shit together.

I have been working all weekend with the exception of watching the game so I have not been able to keep up with all of you beautifulf bloggers so if I touch on some things that are old hat already please excuse me, but I feel the need to vent, so here goes. I did not mind the loss to Sparty near as bad as this one. If we were playing marbles I would hate to lose to Sparty but at least they outplayed us and outwanted us. Last saturday they were the better team on the field. Yesterday there is no doubt in my mind that we were the better team and to come away with a loss is just sitting in the pit of my stomach. I hate that we lost that way. I do not want to sit here and drudge up all of the what-ifs of if Tate had taken that last drive so I won't go there but I walked away from that TV last night pissed off. I certainly hope RR can get these damn turnovers nipped in the bud. I can understand if our D is not good enough to create the TOs we knew that heading into the season but DAMNIT to give the ball away 5 fucking times is gonna give me an ulcer. Alright I'm done now, sorry about the language.
