Wolverine on Wolverine Crime - Trey Burke Waived to Make Room for GRIII
When my 76ers traded for Glenn Robinson earlier this week, I was excited to see two of my favorite Wolverines on the court together once again. Unfortunately, that dream died today.
After acquiring Alec Burks and GRIII from the Warriors, the 76ers freed up the necessary 2 roster spots by trading one player and waiving Trey Burke. Trey was having a decent year for us, but coach Brown seemed to favor Raul Neto, our other backup PG.
At least I still get to root for a Wolverine.

Maybe JB will give him a chance?

Trey Burke hasn't gotten a fair shake anywhere he's been since he got to the NBA, imo. Especially this year.
There is no dimension in which RAUL NETO is a better basketball player than Burke.

He needs the right fit. Needs a scoring guard off the bench role. Had a good run with the Knicks and Mavs in a scoring role. He’s not athletic enough to be a 30 mpg PG, but someone will pick him up.

totally agree, but this is now the second coach that has played Neto over Burke...the first being Quin Snyder when they were all in Utah.
Trey is an NBA player, I really hope he finds the right fit.

Wasn’t Alec burks taking Burke’s minutes earlier in his career on another team too ?

Yup. Utah.

Pistons should sign him. They could use another PG, and lack 3pt shooting.

It's not really a "Wolverine on Wolverine" crime here unless GR III is actually a player-GM, which would be kind of weird since he would have been trading for himself.

Forget it, he's on a roll.

If you were a hotdog, would you eat yourself?

One of my all-time favorite SNL skits!

I'm assuming that when the team traded for GRIII, Elton Brand asked him who they should waive. Glenn didn't like the idea of having teammates named Burks and Burke (too confusing), and so he threw his former teammate under the bus.
Thus, Wolverine on Wolverine crime.

Wonder if Beilein would take him in Cleveland.

Sucks, Trey is one of my favorites.

Bummer, I hope he gets picked up by somebody. Too good of a player not to.
