Why is 4 star safety Dior Johnson going to Wake Forrest?

I'll play your game. Why?

It was there.

There are a myriad of reasons. Can we please not presume THE reason is somehow the fault of the Michigan coaching staff or some flaw within Johnson himself, and instead assume the young man evaluated his options and felt Wake was the best decision for him?

But you're right, he should feel like a total ass for making his own decision about going to a great school, and not even having the decency to check with you first.
Quick, somebody give me Arnold Palmer's phone number, I need to tell him what an idiot he was 60 years ago.

Harbaugh disagreed and thought there was plenty of cowbell already.

At first I thought we were talking about Dior Mathis.

Pure specualtion, but I wonder if Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson -- who just finished his first season there -- recruited Johnson while coaching at Bowling Green. Then Johnson followed when Clawson went to Wake.
Again, just a dart I'm throwing out there since I don't exactly follow BGSU/Wake Forest recruiting.

I'd rather Harbaugh and the staff be slow and deliberate with recruits rather than use a 4-year scholaraship on guys who may or may not pan out. If that means that 2015 is a tiny class and 2016 is a monster one, then so be it.

You realize how average the state of Michigan is with football. We need the best players IN THE COUNTRY, not in Michigan.
January 14th, 2015 at 11:34 AM ^
The point is you keep your homegrown talent first... then recruit Ohio, Texas, Cali, Florida, etc.
If you cannot keep your in state talent, then you become Rutgers. Look at how many 4 & 5 stars from NJ that are not at Rutgers!
January 14th, 2015 at 9:51 AM ^
Obviously Wake Forest is paying off 3* athletes to get them to attend.
January 14th, 2015 at 10:26 AM ^
The real question is - why doesn't Johnson go to Central Michigan? They are roughly equivalent to Wake.

Hey come on now, they get vortexes (cold snaps) as well, but it's a bit warmer overall. :)

Yes, it is.
Mount Pleasant is also a dump.

They beat Virgina Tech (how quickly we forget VTooWF) who beat Ohio State who won the national championship. Boom, WF is an elite program.
/s, if not completely obvious

Well, it has a beautiful campus in a great state. The enrollment is very low and the education is pretty good.
There is more to life than football.

Not recruited by Michigan and probably for a reason. Let the coaches who know talent and don't recruit by star value or where they live decide. They know.

4* in Michigan are 2* elsewhere. JK. But I agree that we should FORM A FUCKING WALL around the state
