When will we hire a new LB Coach?

Haven’t seen any buzz about it, but has anyone else?

I assume Rick Minter won’t be the permanent hire seeing as how he’s more or less in the Monte working for Lane stage of his career.

It probably won't be Minter, but we could do a LOT worse than Rick Minter, who we're fortunate to have had ready and available the rest of the year.

I trust Harbaugh and Jesse Minter to vet and find someone legit.

There is a whole coaching carousel that started over the weekend - it will likely impact our staff.

We are a few weeks away from coordinators and assistant coaches getting hired by the new heac coaches for their staffs around the country.

There will also be assistants from the olds staffs getting let go. Our new coach(es) will either come from promotion or picking someone up from the scrap heap.

I think James Ross may be ready. He's had successful stints at Hope, Cincinnati and is currently at Tulane doing a great job. He's a former LB at Michigan, knows and understands the culture, he has character, great integrity, from the Detroit area and bleeds Maize and Blue. They should give him a shot.

I don't know, but I hope they don't stop preparation for the B1G Championship game to do so. Or recruiting, don't stop that. Or stealing the signs of Georgia, FSU, Oregon, Washington, and Bama. Don't stop that. Or, like, 100 other things that I would imagine are higher on the list of priorities than a new LB coach right now... ;-)

If they want to go the ex player front, Roy Manning has been out west for while now, as he's been pretty attached to Alex Grinch since they were at WSU together, aside from Grinch's brief tenure at Ohio State and Manning went to UCLA. But being attached to Alex Grinch's defenses at OU and USC wouldn't be the best selling point.

Mike McCray has been with DB at UMass the last couple of years as well.

They'll find someone, likely an ace recruiter.  I also assume they'll be replacing the OC this year because someone is going to go after Moore and he'd be foolish not to take a good option if one was given to him.

But Harbaugh has done a great job picking assistants and I trust he'll do so again.

We're going to need a lot more than a new LB coach by the time this is all said and done. Harbaugh himself said he has 4 ready for head coaching positions now and other ready for coordinator duties. My guess is Moore is gone. Newsome will slide over to the OL with either Jay and/or Hart coordinating the offense. We'll need to hire LB, safeties, and TE coaches. Jay can probably coach TE's but my guess is he won't if he keeps special teams coordinator duties. Hart will keep RB's unless a dynamic recruiter becomes available. It's going to be a wild ride on the carousel this off season and I'm here for it.

I might agree with you on Sherrone, except that the sheer emotions of the last few months are likely to have him too bonded with these players to leave in the short term. Plus, the unfolding of events have made him the clear heir in waiting to our head coaching position.  Given the money he is making, I wouldn't be surprised if he hung around quite a bit longer.

Kirk Campbell would be the OC/QB coach..he has already been an OC so he would slide perfectly into that position--plus the QBs love him

Btw, anyone hear any feedback on all the recruits we had at the game?  I know only 2 days later but sometimes people hear stuff..supposedly Underwood was going to show up

Did it work out for the Stoopses? Once Mike got fired at Arizona, Bob pushed Brent Venables out to hire him as DC. Then Riley let Mike go, while Venables became  top 3 DC in the sport. There just is something different about a coordinator title, especially for sons, when things go wrong fans get especially angry

I liked Christian Robinson. He was in the mix two LB coaching searches ago before Florida hired Billy Napier.

Now he's at Baylor. But he'd be a great fit for our staff.

Roy Manning would be the ultimate hire. With Grinch getting fired and his new connections to the west coast, that would be a fantastic hire!
