Since we're getting a new AD

What do you guys think are the chances of us doing away with the FCS opponents and instead scheduling some home and homes with some respectable opponents?

So you're one of the small group of band kids who willingly participate in the hand motions for the piped-in music, when you don't even realize that this is the tip of the iceberg. The writing is on the wall. It's quite amazing to me that the MMB kids seem to be so passive about the piped-in music. There's no reason whatsoever, none, for anyone but the MMB and the visiting bands to be the soundtrack of Michigan Stadium. No matter if Bob Seger grew up in Treetown.

See, this just seems unnecessarily pessimistic. "The writing is on the wall"? What do you even mean by that? Are you saying that canned music is the first step to dismantling the Michigan Marching Band? I find that difficult to believe. Also, I highly doubt that the band refusing to participate with piped in songs would really affect any sort of change. Might as well live with it and find some way to make it tolerable.

Fair enough. When was the last time we had an band related internet slapfight, though? It's been at LEAST a week. So, I propose this. The band is loud enough, the students just need to be quieter, that way you all will be able to hear us better and appreciate our excellent musicianship.

No need to pass up a million plus in home revenue. A new AD is going to want to want to stick with the Carr,RRod, and Martin policy at least until the football team proves it can compete with the big boys at home.

Nebraska was a more complicated situation, however, in which Bill Callahan did pretty much everything he could do to piss off everybody in Cornhusker Nation. Completely alienated alumni. Ignored and shut out former players. Cut back on the longstanding tradition of Nebraska-native walk-ons being given an unconditional chance to be a part of the team. Discounted the fanbase. And didn't even win to justify it. It was an ugly, ugly, ugly situation in which a complete house-cleaning was needed. Which is why Tom Osborne showed up to set thing straight. There are serious fractures in the Michigan fanbase right now, some of which are justified, and others which are totally ridiculous. We've got issues. But we don't have anything in the same universe as what was going on in Nebraska.

Chances are slim to none. I wish it wasn't but this is the way most of the big time programs are headed. Michigan wants that extra home game and wants a win. There is no way Michigan will schedule anyone semi respectable. It is what it is. Anyone know who the Division 1-AA school is for next year? (I refuse to use FCS, that name change is the dumbest thing the NCAA has ever come up with)
