Yes we need a CB.

What have Hill, Jones, Waller or etc. actually done?

Haven't we learned that you don't win championships with just the next name on the roster?

There's a standard.

Also, this doesn't make sense, because the WRs have shown MUCH more than those names you mentioned (and you are correct, we need WRs).

There isn't a CB outside of Johnson who has done as much as Morris or Morgan, yet we say we need WRs. Hell, Fredrick Moore and Karmello English have probably shown more than any of those CBs except McBurrows (English vs. Waller is probably a toss up).

JJ, Donovan, Colston, Mason, Kenneth, Ernest, Will Johnson, Keon Sabb...all of these guys showed they could perform at the highest level before they became starters.

And Edwards, Grant, and Sabb (maybe) are just now becoming full-time starters. But everyone would have full confidence in them based on what they've already proven. Same with Derrick Moore taking over for McGregor next year.

Edit: And before any misinterprets... I'm high on the backup CBs. But I don't think they should just be handed the keys. It doesn't mean we don't go after someone proven.  They've done nothing and not a single one showed that he was ready this year.

There is a reason that we had to kick out Sainristil and bring McBurrows in (who I don't put in the "young" group + he's a NB). There is a reason Wallace and Keshaun Harris were playing over those guys.

You don't go from that to starting without showing anything.

...especially when there is a potential all-conference starter who could come in.

Honestly we’ve been thin for a while now at CB which is why Wallace was needed as a transfer.  The recruiting there has been iffy at best and non of clinkscales recruits have paid off yet.  It’s been something I’ve been tracking because he was supposed to be lights out recruiter.  Jay Baugh has done way better in that time with the safeties.

Absolutely correct. If we can get a solid experienced CB like Muhammad we should jump at the chance. I too like the potential of Hill and Waller, but the key word is potential. A solid CB transfer to play one or two years is ideal for bringing these guys along - and we will need them ready in '25 with Will gone.  McBurrows should be fine at nickel, but one of the younger guys needs to be ready to back that up as well. Not much buzz about Cody Jones so far, but he was a solid recruit.

We play Texas in Week 2 and you’re comfortable with one of those guys manning the CB2 spot? Get serious.

Those guys are incredibly unproven and you’re talking about turning away a guy with 28 starts at the P5 level… if one of the in-house guys is better, they have EVERY opportunity to win that job. But you’re talking about turning away a 2nd team all-PAC12 guy for a couple players who couldn’t see the field for meaningful snaps when Josh Wallace and Will Johnson were banged up late in the year.

Nothing about taking a corner prevents us from also taking WRs.

As a UW fan I watched some ball this past year. He's the player I would want. I can't UFR like the boys, but his name repeatedly passed my eye test. He's a good playmaker. Put him in a good system and watch him produce like a Josh Wallace or better.

He would be a great get. I'm pretty scared of that second corner spot. Honestly, corner recruiting has been pretty bad, and yes I know they have some potential, but there's no one to feel confident in.

Hopefully they can get some elite corners in this next class because the talent there feels low. Hill seems like the most likely to make an impact soon.

He’s a superb player, easily becomes one of the top 10 or so starters in the conference.  Roman Wilson wasnt getting open on him.  You'd be nuts not to take him if there’s mutual interest.
