The Vig - Week 3

Submitted by lunchboxthegoat on September 17th, 2021 at 7:25 AM

I did not have a fantastic week last week -- time to get back on the horse this week. Much better slate of games.

Here's a few I like and am playing:

MSU +6.5 at Miami (YTM)

Cincinnati -3.5 at Indiana

Va Tech +122 @ WVU

BYU +3.5 vs. Arizona St

I also like playing at least one long odds parlay for low risk, high reward and this is what I booked:

Oklahoma -22.5 vs. Nebraska

MSU +6.5 at Miami

Cincinnati -3.5 at Indiana

Va Tech

Under 49.5 Northwestern @ Duke

BYU +3.5 vs. Arizona State

Over 62.5 Fresno St at UCLA

total value +10417

Any games you like? What are you playing?

That Nebraska line is very tempting. We know OU doesn’t play defense and I think the Huskers could score enough points to keep it within 3 TD’s. I won’t be putting any $ on this one though because I don’t trust Nebraska.
I know a lot of folks think Sparty is back, but I’m taking The U as I think MSU returns to earth after beating two cream puffs.
I will take the under for NW/Duke and Cincinnati -3.5 over the Hoosiers.

Right now I’m looking at

bama 1H -7.5

bama -14.5

Cincy -3.5

UCLA -10.5

To be honest, I don’t like a lot of these games. Looking at PSU Auburn, but I genuinely don’t know if PSU is any good…or Auburn for that matter.

First off, thank you to the Ragin' Cajuns for throwing a TD while up 28 with 48 seconds left in the game to get over 56.5.

My parlay this week:

NU-OU over 61.5

OSU -27.5 over Tulsa - think they take out some frustration on Tulsa

Utah -7 over the Fightin' Clappers (San Diego State)

Stanford -11 over Vandy - I think Vandy is bad and Tanner McKee is a much better QB than who Stanford had starting Week 1

Also some random bets:

Miss St and Memphis - over 64

Utah St +270 ML over Air Force

Charlotte +160 ML over Georgia State

Still new to this and not betting a lot of money, but having fun.

I had a great weekend, so I’m prepared for regression to the mean. My headliner was a 4-team parlay that ended with OSU/Hawaii. I waited for OSU to go up 14 before hedging the other side with Hawaii who was then getting 27.5. Hit on both sides.
I love OU -22 so much I can’t control myself. I’ve placed four parlays and included them in each one which is really stupid (parlays were made over 3 days and I forgot I put them in my first 2)

I love Maryland -7 and over 34.5

I hadn’t noticed the O/U on NW/Duke. The under is a great call there, IMO

I ended up with:

Duke +3 vs. Northwestern

Stanford -11.5 vs. Vandy

Toledo -13.5 vs. Colorado State

Cincy -3 vs. Indiana

Over 53.5 in Michigan vs. NIU

Over 58 in Notre Dame vs. Purdue

Alabama -14.5 vs. Florida

I like Purdue to cover at ND. the line is +7.5, and ND has a bad defense,  if it was just 7, maybe but more than a touchdown?  I don't think so.  Also Brohm is 7-0 as a road dog ATS

I think it'll be interesting to see what Bo Nix can do to PSU's defense. He has much more experience than Cade, but Auburn runs the ball with the frequency that we do. He hasn't been asked to do much. I think itll be an interesting indicator of what Cade might do and if PSU can stop a very good running attack or if they force Auburn to throw and how well PSU's defense stands up to that.

I don't usually root for the SEC, but in this case, I'd like to see PSU taken down a peg.

My largest bets this week are:

Over 60.5 buckeyes and Tulsa

Over 64 Miss St. and Memphis

Over 59.5 Maryland and Illinois

Sparty +15.5 that I locked in after week 1

Alabama -15 over Florida

I usually don’t bet overs very often so this could be a train wreck.  Good luck everyone.

I like your Va Tech, BYU, NW-Duke under and Oklahoma bets.

Not a big fan of the MSU +6.5 bet.  Out of conference game against a pretty decent opponent and on the road.  I think Miami covers the spread.

I might go with Michigan -27.5.  I was worried about an inflated spread, which it kind of is right now, but I think Michigan goes up big in the first half and pours on more in the second half with Donovan Edwards getting a bunch of touches and Gattisbaugh going out of their way to prove that we HAZ balance on offense.
