VIDEO: Michigan vs Rice 1999 highlights
This is the first game highlight video after the ZEFR-Youtube raids. I am not sure if they will go after this video or not, but if they do, I am uploading all my content to Dailymotion as a backup and you can watch and/or download videos from that site just like YouTube.
If WH's account didn't get raided, the entire 1999 season would be up with this video upload. I have all of his videos archived on my PS3 in case he ever wants to give another site a shot.
Anyways, this game was Michigan's second game of the 1999 season. It was a hot one that day. Michigan was fresh off a thrilling victory against notre dame the previous week. The offense struggled a little in the 1st quarter but eventually got things going.
This was another game of the Henson/Brady flip-flop saga of 1999. At one point in the video, they talk about Drew's big pay day he got with the Yankees (I still hate you Steinbrenner).

I was in Ann Arbor in '99 and a buddy of mine Ryan Beard was on the squad. Was this the Rice game in which he ran back a kick off/ punt almost to the house? I just remember him telling me they made fun of him when they watched film because the kicker caught him. I swear it was the Rice game. If anyone has that film please let me know. Too bad Ryan went back to Houston. Evan Coleman was in this video too. I became friends with him as well in Ann Arbor. All three of us were from Houston but his career was cut short too. I was left in Ann Arbor without any Houston buddies. I still had the best time of my life in Ann Arbor.

I was at this game.
If I remember, Anthony Thomas had 2 TDs, and Henson even came through with a rushing TD of his own. I could be wrong, but didn't Henson record a couple punts in this game as well?
I think this game has one of the handful of on-field appearances of Jason Kapsner too.

It's hilarious to watch Denard and Devin and then hear Henson called mobile.

most of the time, seemed to come through when the team really needed a score. That team had a lot of talented guys. Thanks for posting this.

This makes me think of when Purdue lost to Rice in 2011, but at least they have the Cradle of Quarterbacks, right?

Check out Renes on this play. He falls down so the guard falls on him but Renes just carries him for three yards on his hands and knees.

After Carr won the NC, I thought he would win a few more going into the late 90s and early 2000s...but we always seem to lose a couple to three games...then I think Carr got stressed out having to win towards the end of his coaching career.

+1. They perform shows that are much in the Stanford tradition. My favorite moment was when they announced they were playing Michigan's state song... and performed the Canadian national anthem.
The other memory? Joe-Bob Thompson. His name eventually spawned moderate "Joe-Bob" chants in the student section.

I was at the game. Is this the one where they made fun of Ohio grads and the Naked Mile race? As I recall they had a young lady dressed in a pink leotard like she was naked and a guy is taking pictures. At first she acted shy, but then started posing like a model.
The MOB was a lot more creative than the Stanford band ever was.
