Take a look in this thread and some of the links posted in it. Hopefully it answers your questions.

I tailgate a row over from where the team is dropped off. They will arrive anywhere from 2hrs - 2.5 hrs before kickoff. If you want a front row spot you can normally find one pretty easily but I would say around 1p would be a good time to arrive if not a bit earlier.

2 1/2 hours before the game. Totally missed it last game as I got there at 9:50. I would suggest 2 3/4 to 3 hours before kickoff.

Is it just me, or are there always more people on here talking about the Victors Walk every week than there are people who actually show up for it? I mean, I don't know whether it's a function of the fact that it's in a pretty low-traffic area at a particularly low-traffic time, or if it's just because there's really nothing much to it... but it seems like it's talked up here a lot more than what it actually is.

I know what you mean. It took the people getting it ready like 30 minutes for telling people to get back and talkin on their walkie talkies. Then they walk for maybe a minute or two. It was still worth the wait seeing them come in for the western game. All the freshman eyes were wide and Brandon Graham looked like he was going to eat somebody!

I thought the crowd at the Victors Walk for the WMU game was great. People lined up 5-6 deep the whole way, and the entire hill on the left side was filled. I thought it was pretty cool. Very short though.

I think the walkup is pretty epic. I love seeing them arrive on those big M buses.
It is, however, something that I've seen a couple times and have no real need to see again.

I think every Michigan fan needs to experience the Victors Walk at least once. It makes gameday so much better. I'm glad RR implemented it.
