upset special

You heard it here first .... Michigan will upset Penn State this weekend ... alright probably not.  But man you would think we were trotting out a team full of smurfs this weekend.  I listen to WTKA in the morning and they always do predictions on Thursday, and it was brutal.

I hate reading the detnews or freep becuase its just a bunch of lazy reporting with no research.  I for one believe this is exactly what this team needed for a few reasons.  They need to find out who is buying in to the program and who won't.  This team also has been long overdue for a makeover on personnel (we need more athletes and less 6-2 245 lbs that run a 4.7 40).  I also think it is more worthwhile to struggle and learn a new offense then to scrap it like say Weis and notre dame did last year.  Curious to hear what some of you think and no matter how bad it gets just remember that MICHIGAN WILL BE BACK!  so lets quit the moaning and groaning and talk about the future and what this team needs to do to get better.  I love Michigan more than anything (except my wife and family).  We will be back and I want to make sure that when we are back I am on the front of the bandwagon cause I can only imagine it will get full.

p.s. I got michigan covering this weekend and I think the defense will have an inspired performance and keep big blue in the game for at least a half.

 GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who started this "big blue" thing?  Big Blue is the New York Giants, or Kentucky, or any blue team BESIDES Michigan.  I think it was Corso that started it but I generally blame him for everything wrong with college football so maybe not.

"Big Blue" started just after the analysts (kieth jackson) started referring to Michigan Stadium as "the big house".  When I was growing up "the big house" meant the penetentiary.  I stilll don't care for the nickname.

Corso is an idiot.

I wrote a diary predicting the win on Monday. Glad to see there are other foolish optimists like me out there. I am considering this a practice game anyway, so it doesnt really matter. What I am looking for most desperately is improvement on defense. With Threet injured, I dont expect too much out of the offense, but the lack of technique in tackling (specifically wrapping up ) has been a little disturbing. If they show some improvement in that, I will be more than happy. If they pull out an improbable win , then woo baby!

Remember anything is possible, I just watched my Red Sox come back from a HUGE deficit facing elimination in the ALCS.

I too share the same foolish optimism.  I can't help but think in "What if" mode.  What if the offense clicks?  Our offense has turned the ball over at alarming rates.  (What's our count, 19 TO total this season?) Is it really possible that this rate continues?  Or over time do we turn the ball over less?  What if we don't turn the ball over against Penn State?  What if our secondary plays as if we had Marlin Jacksons, Charles Woodsons and Leon Halls out there? What if we line up McGuffie at QB and just play rugby styley?  What if Greg Mathews transforms into Braylon Edwards?

OK but seriously.  You never know.  This is college football and anything can happen.

So... What if we actually beat Penn State?  Like I said, I have foolish optimism.

Absolutely anything can happen.  Does anyone think that Michigan over Penn State would be the biggest college football upset in the last couple years?  Not even close.
