Updated 247 rankings
Notable movements
- LB Dallas Turner - UP 109 spots to #34
- OT David Davidkov - UP 24 spots to #59
- WR Xavier Worthy - UP 245 spots to #147
- S Donovan McMillon - UP 525 spots to #201
Most of the other targets either stayed firm in their rankings or moved up and down a couple spots as other recruits were moved around in their rankings.
Missed these:
- WR Markus Allen - UP 9 spots to Ohio’s #20 player
- S Rod Moore - UP 33 spots to Ohio’s #10 player
These are movements in state rankings since 247 doesn’t list their national ranking movement
In case anyone was wondering Ohio State has the #1 class in the country and an average player rating of 95.52. They also have 11 top 100 commits are the current crystal ball favorite for #2 overall JT Tuimolau, #9 overall Emeka Egbuka, and 36 overall (#3 in 247's internal rankings) JC Latham.
Don't worry though, we'll coach up some 3 stars.
Maizen! So great to have you back buddy!
Haha, he's been a member for 4 hrs. What the fuck, are there no rules around here?

What happened to that 5 dollar sign-up idea?
Think of how many accounts Maize can create after receiving that stimulus check.
Does that count the #4 DE they just got today?
So they have commitments from or they are the CB leader for 6 of the top 12 recruits in the country. That’s normal. I guess potentially having 2 of the top 3 picks in the NFL Draft (and 3rd guy is an osu grad) has its advantages.
So if Ohio State is somehow out-recruiting Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and LSU COMBINED for the top players, what the fuck is Michigan (or any other B1G team) supposed to do about that?
And what is going on where these recruits are picking OSU over the teams that are actually winning National Championships? Ohio State has obviously been good recently and the best team in the midwest but they haven’t won a playoff game in 5 years. They certainly can’t point to track record vs Bama or Clemson.
I am not insinuating bag men or whatever because all of these teams have bag men. It is just very, very bizarre.
Eh.. it isn't like Ohio State is outright blowing those other teams you listed out of the water on a yearly basis. The recruiting crown/top-5 seem to involve those teams in some way every year.
Ohio State can hang with them because they put out results that matter the most to recruits. Consistently churning out very publicized and very high draft picks. Their whole "Developed Here" campaign seems to really resonate with the recruits.
Right now, Ohio State is only 2nd behind Alabama for the most active players in the NFL. Recency-bias wise, they have sent TWELVE 1st round draft picks in the last 4 drafts, and 4 of those were top-5 picks. This next upcoming draft might add another pair of top-5 picks (Young and Okudah) into their recruiting ammo as well.
Do people actually think that OSU has commits from or is the crystal ball leader for 5 of 247's top 15 players without cheating? Genuine question
I think in the last 4 years they had 12 or 13 kids drafted in the first round. They will more than likely have 2 of the top 3 or 4 picks again this year with a chance to get a couple of other first rounders. The top talent is all trying to get to the NFL and they seem to be able to get them there. I think Meyer came in and built a machine - but Day is more personable and kids and families gravitate to that - and he has ramped it up even beyond expectations.

This argument is garbage.
LSU, Bama, Clemson, Michigan, etc., all get players into the NFL. We had a great draft a couple of years ago and did you see us suddenly blow by Bama and Clemson in recruiting? C'mon man...
Our program is hamstrung by our academic arrogance and integrity. We actually mention the word "school" to recruits, where programs like Ohio State brush that topic off to the side and focus recruits on football and "perks".
I'll never forget watching Meyer interview Day prior to Day's first season. One hour interview and in all that time, not once did either douche bag mention the words "students, classes or school."
We cling to the farce of "student athletes" because we're proud of our academics and enjoy injecting them wherever possible. I give it about 5 more years of getting our face increasingly caved in by Ohio State before the arrogance and integrity finally subsides and we join those that we can't beat.
Elite college football has gone from 80/20% athlete/student, to 99%/1% over the last 20 years. Academically inferior schools like Bama, Clemson and OSU welcome this. They take little pride in their academics, so fuck it all. We're the fools who can't get with the new reality due to academic pride that will soon subside under the avalanche of embarrassment from yearly 50-20 beat downs.
The only necessary evidence is the score last year, where a first year coach humiliated the best coaches Michigan will have for a very long time.

The argument is right on point. We continue to use every excuse in the book - academics and bagmen - and it is a joke. As stated lower on the page - 2019 Academic Progress Results for the B1G:
#1 - Northwestern
#2 - osu
#3 - tie - Illinois and Michigan
As long as we are fine with these tired, old excuses, we are destined to remain below the top tier teams.
I give up. Figured recruiting would tail off for them somewhat with a relatively unknown coach taking the w re gains. But the way they covered up that scandal and Day coaching those first couple games worked in their favor. Honestly Michigan failed to capitalize early on in The Harbaugh era on the elite kids looking to be part of a resurrection. Those kids have moved on and doesn’t seem like the staff gets much traction with them any longer. That being said I don’t believe anyone does a better job than Harbaugh at Michigan. 9-10 wins yearly isn’t terrible but I look forward to the day that the team has enough scrap to claw away a win at the end of the regular season even if it’s a once in a decade thing.

Leaders and Best everyone.
There’s a lot of legit criticism of this staff, but they’ve been damn good at identify low ranked kids who rise later.
And then will not proceed to use them on the field later.
Come on. Our three stars play like low four stars, just like our five stars!
Consistency in action.
Now just a minute here, I'll have you know that OH GOD IT'S TRUE. It's all true. *weeps*
Actually they use those risers and 3 stars like crazy. It's the 4 stars/5 stars that don't get playing time. Very strange.
Yeah that’s just not accurate. The top 50 players uofm has got under Harbaugh are used much more than the sub 500. Stop making shit up.
OSU doesn't use their sub 500 ranked players at all....they just don't have any.
What 5 star doesn't / didn't play, that deserved to?
I know Ronnie Bell and Hassan Haskins didn’t do anything last year
Ronnie Bell had the highest drop rate in the country and caught one TD.
I hope that's true. It has been my understanding, possible incorrect, that getting the offer from a major program like Michigan can cause their rankings to improve. Obviously the services have a lot of players to evaluate, seems possible if a kid starts getting major offers they might reconsider their conclusions.
Is that really true? They seem pretty mediocre on the field. Beilein was legit at finding diamonds in the rough.
I’m not necessarily even talking about kids who currently play for Michigan. This staff has been in early on a ton of great players they couldn’t land. They’re great at identification but less than great at closing.
we were OSU WR Olave’s first major offer for instance.
This is true - OSU has admitted they watch who we recruit and essentially drop the bag off on which one's they want. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (see Chris Evans and Blake Corum)

I guess the experts still didn't like our DE and LB commits.

Note these are 247 services rankings specifically, NOT the composite rankings.
Don't the composite ranking update automatically when any service (either service since ESPN never makes changes) adjusts rankings.
Are we in on Dallas Turner and Donovan McMillon? Don't notice anything from Michigan on their 247 profiles.
Yeah they’re both top targets of the staff with some reciprocated interest. Not sure why 247 doesn’t list Michigan in their top teams
Up 525 spots? Man he must be putting in the work at home.
Greg Crippen now a 3 star on 247 internal rankings.
Guidice still not ranked.
Phinney cracks the top 1000
CFP here we come.
This is the top maizen. Factual and sarcastic, but not yet hair on fire crazy.

that was fast.
He seems to be able to keep himself in line for less and less time with each iteration. At least he's paying his five bucks each time.
Good day for the bucks for sure. But it’s a fact that some under the radar or lower ranked prospects get ratings bumps from highly marketable programs like Michigan and Ohio state. The programs even lobby for some kids to the agencies to help the teams recruiting profile.
