Unbelivably good Daily article on St Mike's M-hockey connection
Seriously, the Daily sports section is turning out some GREAT pieces of writing... see this one from today
on the connection between St Michael's in Toronto and Michigan hockey. Great writing, good pace, good use of quotes. Found out that we almost had Lindros. Well done!
Growing up I played at a pretty high level against several current and former Wolverines(Wohlberg, Palushaj, Czarnik, Vaughan, etc), I always knew that college hockey was my ultimate goal. Sadly, my dream didn't come true, but I have always admired the players that chose to get their education while playing college hockey instead of heading North to play in the CHL.
It is programs like St. Mike's that keep the integrity of the players and the sport alive. Awesome article, thanks for posting.
I found it to be very enlightening and would love to see more stories digging up the marvelous histories of Michigan Athletics. The Daily does a superb job of writing features and merely adds another aspect as to why I am proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.
My only critcism of the piece was the final line "imported from St. Mikes..." but overall an excellent read.

I agree with that the quality of that article is high. I loved the Lindros story...so close but so far

My hatred for him burns a little less intensely now.

Great story, but minor p. 5 quibble. There is no such thing as a "Princeton law graduate."

That's crazy. I don't know how I never heard about the Lindros connection before.
I wish we could have convinced Lucas Lessio to stick with Michigan rather than go to the OHL. It'd be nice to have a bit of offensive firepower coming in next year to replace all the guys we lose this year. And then if we could have picked up Matia Marcantuoni the following year, that would have been the proverbial icing on the cake. Just makes me hate the OHL that much more I guess...
