UM still 4th in coaches poll
No surprise. We held position and so did everyone ahead of us.
West Virginia jumped ahead of OSU, which dropped from 8th to 9th. PSU moved up 5 spots, which is good for us. MSU and Wisconsin were already out of the top 25 and received fewer votes this week.

First, a caveat--I'm sure Michigan may benefit from favorable rankings among maybe some pro-Michigan journalists out there, but at least over the past several weeks there have been ZERO "upper range" outliers. The vast majority pick Michigan at #4, a smattering at #5, and then only 3-4 in the nation at #6.
Three journalists have chronically ranked Michigan lower than the others over the past few weeks. They are:
Jim Alexander of the Press-Enterprise (Inland Empire, CA). From a quick google search, this is the first year he's been a voter in the AP polls. Online profile seems innocuous enough.
Rob Long of 105.7 FM The Fan in Baltimore, MD. Seems to be an SC Gamecock fan, but nothing particularly antagonistic against Michigan.
And then there's....
John Bednarowski of the Marietta, GA Daily Journal. Naturally he ranks Georgia currently at #4 this week. Ranked OU #5 and Michigan at #6. Select quote from his latest column online:
"After growing up in Ohio, I pull for Ohio State one week of the year, and that’s when it plays Michigan."

Bottom line is I'm glad the CFP doesn't really take these polls into account, or if they do, then it's a small sliver of the information they consider.

I credit Mike Leach's Minshew Stache for the WSU jump.

Minshew looks like a guy that used to manage the produce section at Farmer Jack back in the mid 1970's.

Like the actual farmer Jack. Miss that store.

Defense-less OU at #6?
Two-loss LSU at #7?
Three-loss KY at #11?? That's criminal.
Were they even watching?

The link provided by default takes you to last weeks CFP Rankings. You have to select Coaches poll for an updated ranking.

Thanks. It's better. At least the AP is better, which is what I saw. I didn't see the current Coaches poll.
I still think the Oklahoma at 6 is lazy. They won a coin-flip game to an unranked team.

for the second week in a row.

You must be looking at the wrong poll, brother. LSU is 10th in the coaches poll, 9th in the AP. The AP does have Kentucky 12th, which is criminal, as you say. The coaches have them 21st, which is more accurate.

Forgot to mention one other tidbit. In the coaches poll we increased our lead over Georgia by three points this week while losing a point to ND. In the AP poll both teams gained a couple points on us this week.
November 11th, 2018 at 3:30 PM ^
We're 39 points ahead of Georgia in the 61 voter AP poll, and 46 points ahead in the 65 voter Coaches poll.
A very solid #4 in both cases.
(It should be noted that Clemson is a solid #2.)

Northwestern reentered the AP Poll at #24 and was just outside the Coaches at #26.
MSU's loss dropped them to #29 in the AP & #35 in the Coaches. Methinks the coaches just looked at the score and voted accordingly. I thought MSU was more likely to win down only 7-6 late in the third. All OSU did was to keep pinning MSU to their own goalline with punts and wait for MSU to run the Sparty NO! play, and MSU obliged. The final 26-6 score is very misleading.
Iowa fell to #35 in the AP and out of any consideration in the Coaches. Wisky fell out of any consideration in the AP and to 41st in the Coaches. Purdue is now a 5-5 team that isn't sure to be bowl eligible with Wisky at home and @Indiana.

OSU's bad loss is looking worse all the time. Michigan is the B1G's only hope for the CFP.

Stat/graphic on one of the games I was watching later last night showed that - ALL AP top 10 teams won on the same weekend in the month of November for the first time in 9 years. There wasn't gonna be any shakeup.
