Jake went to my alma mater Battle Creek Lakeview Highschool. For me it is pretty cool to see his success knowing his family. As I work at the country club here in town that his family is a part of. I also played baseball, graduating in '95 so I have been able to have awesome baseball talks with them. He looks to be a special player!
Go Blue!
Go Lakeview Spartans!
Clines and Benedetti singled
4 - 1 into the 9th
2 to go
nobody on
pop up to Cronenworth
4 total Indiana hits
Adcock walked 6, struck out 4
we advance at 6:00 eastern tomorrow to pay winner Iowa-Ohio
Does the team have an outside chance to make the tournament without winning the Big Ten Tournament? They just beat Indiana for the 3rd time in 4 meetings. Which is a quality win because Indiana was rising up the RPI rankings recently. They also beat Okie State and Iowa each once. If Michigan beats Iowa or OSU tomorrow, is that enough to get them in?
Even if Michigan were to win two more games and then lose to Illinois (the best case scenario short of winning the tournament), I wouldn't expect an at large bid. The NCAA has rarely gone as deep as #70 in the RPI for at large bids--normally the worst at large team is somewhere around #50.
Michigan can't make up 15 spots in the RPI with 3 wins and a loss, and they don't have the profile of the sort of team that they would take from the #50-#70 group: those tend to be teams (from the Big West as often as not) with ridiculously difficult non-conference schedules and several wins against the top 25.
It has been a good season, but without a win this Sunday, not an NCAA tournament season.
