UCF Investigation

Submitted by MinorforPresident on
So UCF is hiring an independent investigator to review its football program amidst the latest issues with a players health (one died in the summer). This got me wondering if their incoming recruits may reconsider their commitment with this type of controversy? And if so, might Josh Robinson reconsider coming to Michigan? Just a thought.

The first guy had sickle cell trait (1 recessive gene rather than 2 but it still has an effect on the phenotype). Sickle cell is a genetic condition that can affect people in the black community. While sickle cell trait is not full blown sickle cell anemia, there is some slight danger if someone who has it does too much strenuous activity. I don't know where the blame falls at UCF. Workouts were supposedly very tough, but isn't that the case everywhere? If the UCF staff knew that the player had the condition, then they should not have had the player overexert himself, and that would make them careless. But if the staff (and possibly the player) didn't know about it beforehand, then unless all coaching staffs should be aware of the possibility, I don't know if they can be held accountable.
