OK, that happened. U-M hadn't lost a Fri game since 11/30 @ FYS. Now they have to rebound and play better. 3 pts still gets ahead of MN in the standings. Not surprisingly, Lavigne will start in net.

Needs leadership, too.

Captains have been too quiet all season long.

Scoring goals was a problem and remains a problem too.

We have a ton of freshmen coming in next year so hopefully as more of the late Red guys leave things will change.

As they were signing off, the announcer twice said, "Michigan will be a tough out in the playoffs if they can get some quality goaltending."

Where are they going to find that in 6 days before they faceoff at Minnesota?

How Bad Is It, Johnny?

This Wolverines team hasn’t won more than two games in a row this season, and they’ve won two consecutive games only twice – against St. Lawrence which is 5-27-2 and 59th, next-to-last in the PairWise rankings (October 26 and 27) and Michigan State which finished with the worst overall record among all Big Ten teams (February 8 and 9).

The 50-Year Anniversary Curse for NCAA Men's Hockey Powers

Based on the current PairWise rankings that usually determine the 16-team NCAA men’s ice hockey tournament field, North Dakota (20), Minnesota (20), Michigan (24), Boston University (24), Wisconsin (26), Michigan State (27), Maine (28) and Boston College (36) all could be missing from this year's tournament, if none of them win their conference tournament.  The last time when none of those teams were in the tournament was 1969 when Denver, Harvard, Cornell and Michigan Tech were the only teams in the tournament.
