I still think the most talented blend of speed and power UM has ever had in a back (maybe if I had seen Tom Harmon play I'd have a different opinion but...in my lifetime).  Hope he has great success in his new role!

Tyrone Wheatley's record as a head coach was 3-9 and 2-9 in two years at Morgan State.  It is good for Wheatley to step back, on his own accord, into a role that he has been successful at.

Agreed, though I take step back to mean take a moment to reflect, not go backwards.

Also a hot take: if someone improves a school with limited resources, they are a good coach. But if someone doesn't, it doesn't mean they are a bad coach. Maybe he'll aspire to be a head coach again someday, but I remember when he came to Michigan to coach people were suggesting he was only a year or two from being an NFL OC. I'm hoping he's successful in Denver.

I wish he had never left. I think he did an outstanding job when he was here coaching the RB's. In fact,, one could say that our running production took a "step back" when he left. Not throwing shade on Jay Harb but I think if the idea is to prepare kids for the NFL, having a guy who actually played the position in college and the pro's, can't be under-valued.

The running back room was full of talent, when he left but we weren't able to get it done. In steps, a guy who actually played the position well and currently holds the U of M rushing record (Mike Hart) and boom the running game is back on track and putting up outstanding numbers. I think with skilled/playmaker positions there's an undeniable correlation????

Interestingly, Tyrone Wheatley Jr. is getting a chance with the Chicago Bears next season.....as an offensive tackle - the position everyone thought he should have been playing his entire college career.  I can't find the link right now, but he went through some NFL development program and moved to OT where the Bears signed him to some sort of practice squad position.

I don't think much of Top X lists, but TW would be toward the top of any list I put together. A staggering list of records and accomplishments.
