Tracy Smith favorite to get baseball job
At Indiana, he had 40+ win seasons and won Big Ten in 2013 and 2014. They got to the College World Series in 2013 also. He left for Arizona State in 2015 and then was fired after 7 years there with minimal success.

Smith has been a head coach at Miami (OH), Indiana, and most recently Arizona State. He lead the Sun Devils to a 201-155 record over seven years.
An announcement may come as soon as today.
Well if you read the article, it means not focusing your recruiting on the baseball camps/showcases that are only afforded to the families who can… afford it.
Being “inclusive” means recruiting beyond that and seeing if any of those “best players” are kids that couldn’t afford the opportunities of going to those camps. A lot of under-privileged baseball players get overlooked because of this. Bakich made a killing finding those types of kids on our CWS run.
I think the words “inclusivity” and “diversity” triggered an auto-response by your brain, read the article and you’ll better understand the perspective.
Weird. I work with a guy named Tracy Smith, but when I spoke with him yesterday, he didn't say anything about taking the M job.
Verrrrrry weird. There must be some significant secret, behind-closed-doors, top secret clearance machinations going on.
By coincidence, I work with a guy named Putingrad. Though I don't know his first name, I think I heard someone call him Motel.
weak.
Seems like a "high floor" kind of hire.
In case anyone is wondering how he fared against USC and UCLA (or other schools)

He’s a Midwest guy that struggled at ASU. He did well at Miami and Indiana. It’s a stable hire. I don’t think he’ll be dominant here but I also don’t think he’s going to flounder.
Let me be the first to say: "FIRE Smith!"
It never was funny-never will be.
The guy took Indiana to the College World Series. That is more than most coaches can say.
I will miss that month where all other sports are basically done and we get to watch the baseball team’s end of regular season and then compete in post-season play.
