Top DT Marvin Wilson leaves Michigan off Top Ten list

Submitted by Trip McNeely on

Thought this was a little odd considering Rivals released an article in which he was quoted as saying it was a good possiblility that he attend Michigan.Of course we still could get into that top ten or get a visit because Harbaugh. But thought it was a good example of crootin'

EDIT: Since I am seeing a lot of comments about how Rivals sucks I just wanted to say that was not my intention with this post. Just to show what recruiting has become...'crootin.

Because this confused me and might confuse others, there are two 5-star Wilsons: Marvin and Isaiah. Marvin, a DT from Texas, hasn't been on the radar until very recently.  Isaiah is the OT from New York we've been hearing about for months.

Well...Marvin Wilson has been on the radar for a long time, actually. He took in a Michigan satellite camp last summer and was offered before that point. Greg Mattison was in on him pretty early, and Wilson actually said pretty positive things about Michigan early. The longer his recruitment has worn on, the further Michigan has dropped. The headline from Rivals was the first positive thing I had heard about Wilson in a while, but it was Rivals, so I took it with a grain of salt (rightfully so, it appears).

This is just another example as to why Saban is right when he said that satellite camps are worthless. ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME. Why we aren't in this kid's top 10 is just inexcusable. I mean this comes right after Harbaugh invades Texas, correct? No one should ever do a satellite camp ever again! The kids hate them so much they drop you from their top lists!

I have had a rivals account for sometime now, over five years, and I must say I agree that they have gone downhill in the few years as far as recruiting info and team info in general. Anything I read about fall or spring practices I take with less than a grain of salt because nothing has really come to fruition that they write. I've benn shopping for a new paywalled site, thinking about switching to 247.

247 is better than Scout, IMO. I know there was a thread about it a week or two ago, so you may want to skim that before deciding. Good luck dropping your Rivals membership, though. I've heard the process is a pain in the rear.

Ehhh, seems like much ado about nothing. Wilson's words are his words, and yet, the Rivals' article title was still clickbait given what's been known about his recruitment for a while. All part of the never-ending silliness known as 'crootin.

Seems Scout was a little off on his recruitment as well...

This was just from last week!

Oh well. Can't get them all. Best of luck wherever you go. Unless its OSU. Then I will wish grave, non injury-related misfortune on you on the last weekend of every season.

Marv is definitely a legitimate DT (No Gary though) but IMO we want Alex Leatherwood (Alabama OT commit with some Michigan interest) because he really held off Wilson in the 1 v 1s.

He had UM interest or he has Michigan interest? I do believe we have some playing opportunity on the line from what I read about Bredesons possible position opportunities all along the OL including left OT. With Logan TT having (priority)  problems. I would think UMs priority would be another bonafide OT more along the size of Lewan. Then UM can sick Bredeson on this Hollywood character in the NC game if need be.

Michign will be fine without him. Besides, it's still early. When Michigan runs the table and wins the NC in a decisive fashion, everyone will want to be all in for Harbaugh.
