"Thomas says Michigan State is tied for the lead with Michigan. "There's a lot of opportunity for me up at Michigan State," Thomas said. "I would say right now Michigan and Michigan State have the lead and I can't tell which one leads out of the two. I know I can play early at MSU, but I know at Michigan they're winning and they're going to continue to win." Thomas said he feels Michigan can provide him a lot after football as well, but he also knows Michigan State is just having a bad year and will bounce back. The Detroit prospect is planning to enroll early so he will make his decision by late December."

Is that if you have a commitable U of M offer in this day and age, and you choose to go to MSU, you will completely regret it if you're being honest. There certainly is value in playing early, but I have a feeling that if Donnie Corley could have looked a year ahead, he wouldn't be in EL today.....

Corley is certainly in a great position to be the focal point of their offense next year, but there have been many times this season that I've seen him throw his hands up in frustration towards the QB, or sulk to the sideline upset. I have a hard time believing he would end up at MSU(not even saying just Michigan) if he could go back.

100%. The world is fundamentally unpredictable. And ultimately you can only play the hand you're dealt against whoever else is at your table, even if they draw a 21 out the gate, you can only go with what you've got. I'm sure Jabrill Peppers never even thought he'd get to be coached by Jim Harbaugh, and likewise Wilton Speight and every other player on the team. And if Hoke was still here, Pepper might even still be playing CB, what a mistake that would be. Life is very long, which ultimately makes it more fair, but at the individual level you can't judge things or make predictions just based on one or two years--or even ten years sometimes--(despite what the media and "economists" would have you think). Just gotta keep livin and make best with what ya got!

Don't both our safeties graduate this year? Why wouldn't he be able to play next year? We also lose both corners. And whatever Michigan State is spoon feeding him is bullshit.

Never good when a recruit is creating bullshit reasons (playing time) to prefer a school. He doesn't want to say the real reasons that he prefers Sparty. I'll be surprised if he's in this class.

Jeez you're assuming a lot out of not much. You should create some political commercials. The kids heart is in East Lansing, he doesn't have to be ashamed to say it. It's 100% not about playing time though. He should be pumped to go there. Since they've been great for 5 years out of 100.

He does realize that we're losing both of our starting corners and only have one replacement set in stone, right? There's a huge hole in the depth chart that he could slide into.

"Thomas said he feels Michigan can provide him a lot after football as well, but he also knows Michigan State is just having a bad year and will bounce back. "

This sentence cracks me up.

"I know Michigan is great academically, but Michigan State . . .  [thinks real hard, gotta say something positive here] . . . well, they're just having a bad year and will bounce back."

Really wasn't much he could say re: academics in comparison to Michigan.

Would love to have Ambry, great player but Darnay Holmes will be here in 2 weeks. There's your day 1 difference maker.

Even if he is a silent  MSU commit, the MGOBLOGGER's will still help him out by voting him in for Michigan high school "player of the year". GO BLUE young man !

I remember Steve Lorenz saying he thought he was leaning towards Michigan and he seemed pretty confident that he would end up at Michigan. Maybe things have changed though and we're actually tied, but still, you have to like our chances.

Has he looked at our DB depth chart by class? We're losing five DBs who are currently seniors, including all four starters. Michigan offers a really unique opportunity to both get early playing time and join an excellent and ascending team.

On the other hand, MSU only loses two of its 11 DBs on the depth chart this year. So MSU's pitch that there's a lot of playing time available can only mean that they think their current players suck, because there won't be much of a natural vacancy on their depth chart.

That is true, but if you look at the roster going forward, it looks like Kinnel will take one of the safety spots, Levert Hill is being groomed to start at one of the corner spots, and we will probably get Clark back for a fifth year.  Our secondary in 2017 doesn't look as nearly shaky and green as some (including myself) thought it would look like earlier this year.

Sure, but you could say that about any team. MSU's depth chart isn't completely empty; they have guys that they're "grooming" to take over starting spots as well.

The only difference is that MSU's projected starters suck. So if the appeal is "come play with players that suck, and you'll be able to start right away because you'll be better than them," then good luck to them, I guess.
