Tom Brady Announces Retirement On Instagram (no link) [edit: link added]

fun story: i had a class with him my sophomore / his senior year - SOC 303. i never talked to him. i actually mistook him for drew henson.

I remember watching Brady when he was with Michigan and seeing him battle against the calls for Drew Henson...He showed a lot of the leadership capabilities back in the day.

I never thought he would become the GOAT, but definitely thought he'd be a guy good enough to carve out a long career in the NFL - though at that time, I thought it was going to be more like a guy that would be running a .500 team.

I was shocked he fell to the 6th round though - after the Bama game, I thought he played himself up to be a 3rd pick, in addition to winning as a starter at a program like Michigan.

Its been nothing short of amazing, to watch his career unfold, from college starter to NFL legend...

Good Luck to the guy... I am really curious to see what he ends up doing next. He can easily get a job in media if he wants, be it like Tony Romo or like Michael Strahan...I wonder if he'd try something like a GM? Coaching seems unlikely as it requires as much time as playing it seems like...

Sad day. Can't say I'll follow the NFL quite as much without Tom around.

I wonder if Tom will be moving to Del Boca Vista now...

I LOVE THIS MAN.  His grace under pressure. His leadership skills.  His relationships with his teammates, of all creeds & colors.  His public cool and demeanor.  The way he answers questions.  He always remained a Michigan dude.

And the fact he made my many Domer relatives shut the eff up about their Montana guy.

BEST EVER EVER. CONGRATS TO THE GOAT!

Great player, obviously.  But also an incredibly classy guy, when many great players are anything but. Proud to be a fellow alum of his.

I wonder if he made his decision while eating a Subway.....
