Today's Schedule of Games
It's unusual for us to be on ABC TV at noon for a game like Maryland.
It could be an issue if they have the Kavanuagh vote during our game, which may happen. ABC News will likely break into the game for coverage. Hope they at least saved us an overflow slot on ESPN News somewhere.
I'll have an eye on Northwestern at Michigan St at noon. I'll take a peek at TX - OU if our game gives me a breath.
At 3:30 / 4:00, Indiana at OSU could be a trap game for a minute. Strange that Florida St. at Miami is now an afterthought. This was one of the "games of the year" in the '80s / '90s.
At night, I'll be watching Notre Dame at Virginia Tech. A night game in Blacksburg against a big time opponent puts VT on a completely different level than normal, similar to a white out night game for PSU.

If they cut into the game to televise a vote, that will be shown on like 20 other channels anyway, I may just shoot my television.
October 6th, 2018 at 9:50 AM ^
Yesterday's invoke-cloture "pre-vote" was on all the channels, so there would likely be at least a break-in.
Hopefully we take care of business before the 4th quarter, but I'm not taking anything for granted with this team.
Just win, baby. I'll find the highlights later if I need to.
October 6th, 2018 at 9:52 AM ^
Yeah I put a news break-in percentage at about 1% for that. Folks can turn to their favorite news station for that. The only possibility would be if he were voted down...even then I doubt it. At most i might expect a bottom line notification. Even that probably won’t happen.
October 6th, 2018 at 11:03 AM ^
I don't know about that. Fox showed the end of the John McCain funneral over the start of Oklahoma vs FAU.

ABC won't care. They will interrupt the game to show the vote if it takes place after noon. They won't want to be accused of missing this important news even if every other channel in the U.S.carries it.
October 6th, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
That was my concern, since ABC does not have an auxiliary news channel like NBC, Fox, etc. do. They won't want to be completely left out of the scene.
But Quattro below says the vote will be at 5:00, so that's a Florida State - Miami problem.
October 6th, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
I hope they don't - I watched it all day like a hawk yesterday. Unless something truly unexpected happens, that's all she wrote and there won't be much of anything to break away to (aside from the continued dismantling of our democracy, which I'd rather not watch anyway). I also don't want a flashback to the '94 FInals when I was trying to watch the Knicks but NBC kept breaking away to the OJ chase - bad news I didn't want to watch. I finally got a TV (just moved) and I'm ready to get in some good watchin' today (man I miss the Miami-FSU games of old).
GO BLUE!!!
(we don't live in a democracy anymore, so might as well watch football. Vote in November, though. Make sure to do that).
October 6th, 2018 at 10:42 AM ^
lol unhinged. We've always lived in a democratic republic.
October 6th, 2018 at 10:57 AM ^
Easy there, fella. I was not trying to trigger a debate brawl . . . there are 500 other outlets on the internet for that.
I was just trying to figure out if there would be a TV coverage issue for our game. And I indeed got my answer - vote is scheduled for well after our game. So no issue.
So now we can go back to arguing about the topic that is violently dividing our nation: Why does the freaking SEC have so many teams in the Top 10?
October 6th, 2018 at 11:27 AM ^
Never mind. Won't even bother.
Go Blue! No Politics!
October 6th, 2018 at 9:58 AM ^
Thanks for posting that - very handy!
October 6th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
Vote is set to occur at 5. Riots will break out at 5:05.
October 6th, 2018 at 10:29 AM ^
Strange that Florida St. at Miami is now an afterthought. This was one of the "games of the year" in the '80s / '90s.
That was some great football back then. The speed of the game was so far above Big Ten play it was like watching two different games.
October 6th, 2018 at 10:40 AM ^
I was at the '91 Michigan - Florida State game. We thought we had turned the corner . . . we had a new coach in Mo who was not afraid to throw the ball. We had Elvis and Desmond. We were fast and dynamic now, at least by our standards.
Then Florida State came to town and showed us what fast and dynamic really looked like. We kept it close for a half, but then the wheels fell off.
I still remember that FSU "throwback" play that broke our back. My seat was in the end zone and I watched that play cover like 75 yards sideways, with us chasing it futilely from 10 yards behind the whole time.
It was humiliating, but the FSU fans were very complimentary about our stadium. Theirs was just an overgrown high school stadium at that time.

Pervert.

I still like beer.

Eh we should be ok. Vote is to happen no earlier than 4 most likely 5. We're good
October 6th, 2018 at 10:45 AM ^
I’m burying my brother in law today at noon. Going to DVR the game but everything else football related will likely be read in game summaries. EOD tech in the Marines and a great human being. He will be missed. He was Blue to the core. Beat the turtles today! Go Blue!
October 6th, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
Sorry to hear about your loss, thoughts and prayers to you and your family today.

UFC 229 Mcgregor V khabib

October 6th, 2018 at 10:57 AM ^
Start time is delayed. No time announced. Alert came through on phone. Looks like a line of storms moving thru around game time until 1 at least. Storms dont look severe and if they are anything like what weve had all morning this is dumb. Futurecast shows redevelopment by 230 pm. Game is in doubt.
October 6th, 2018 at 11:00 AM ^
All eyes on IL at Rutgers. Who you like in this powerhouse tilt? I like the PBS tatings in those markets.
October 6th, 2018 at 11:51 AM ^
Also, don't underestimate the ability of your local weather folk to insert themselves into the game today with the "marginal / green color" risk for severe weather today.
October 6th, 2018 at 12:04 PM ^
Lulz this Bama Arkansas game has technical difficulties and only had camera angles from up high, no close, zoomed camera views.
October 6th, 2018 at 12:23 PM ^
Lulz at Oklahoma red zone defense. Still 100% at letting opposition score.
October 6th, 2018 at 12:42 PM ^
Northwestern just did to sparty what we should've done to Northwestern 4 or 5 times. Bad safety coverage burned for an easy touchdown pass.
October 6th, 2018 at 12:55 PM ^
Lets hope NW can pour it on and not let sparty back in this
October 6th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
We all know that isn’t happening. NU loves to blow leads.
