Today's random questions

Submitted by Hensons Mobile… on April 3rd, 2020 at 9:04 AM

Get your answers in before this post gets pushed all the way down the board by ten new covid-19 posts. Covid-19, man. That was so last March amirite?

Today's first question is for the guy who is tired of hockey shade. (To be fair, it was hockey recruiting shade.)

1) Which Frozen Four loss to Notre Dame made you question more if it was all worth it: 2008 or 2018?

(For those who don't know, hockey is a game played on ice. We lost in the semifinal to ND 5-4 in OT in 2008 and then again in 2018, 4-3, when ND hit the ball with the stick into the basket to score the last point right at the end of the 4th quarter. Thanks for reading, hockey guy!)

2) More evil genius: StausKiss or Chase's McSorely Salute?

3) Better security blanket: Navarre to Marquise Walker (2001) or Henne to Jason Avant (2005)?

4) Would you rather: Read every word of the last installment from Draftageddon 2017 or every word of UFR 2017 Defense vs PSU?

5) More punchable face: Draymond Green or Aaron craft? (Do not punch people, even when you are allowed within six feet.)

My answers:

1) 2018. The ending was more unique.

2) StausKiss, but closer than the experts think.

3) Walker. No good reason. His one-handed catch was better than Avant's.

4) Draftageddon. The UFR includes all the plays, man.

5) Craft. Let's be honest, I said that because I think I could take him.

I read these every day and only felt compelled to chime in because of your last question.

Draymond Green has the most punchable face in the history of faces...and enjoys kicking dudes in the nuts. Enough said.

Also, I think Aaron Craft is a doctor. Fairly certain he got a medical degree while playing for OSU for what felt like 7 years.

Denzel Valentine also makes a run at having the most punchable face. His face was the equivalent to nails on a chalk board.

There was also an OSU basketball player a few years back, think his last name was Della Valle, who had a really punchable face too, and ran his mouth about Michigan after they lost a few games in the 2013-14 season. He then proceeded to get swept like the absolute chump that he was.

2018

StausKiss-because I’m bias...McSorley’s was pretty cool

Henne to Avant-Navarre had a good career but he frustrated me

Draftageddon-Losses are to painful

Draymond-I always respected Craft’s tenacity (giggled at his 3pt shot) and Draymond is just dirty

I found the daily COVD threads here useful.  I mean, awful, given the politics, but there are a lot of smart people on this board who's opinions I trust (though not for politics).

Craft man, not even close.

1) & 2) No strong opinion

3) Walker - he was so under appreciated and did more for longer than Avant

4) Draftageddon - Not that I hate it....but the length vs value isn't worth it (that's what she said)

5) Craft, because he was Brad Davidson 1.0 and the punchability proportionate to talent wasn't there like Draymond.  I hate Draymond, but at least he has more talent.  Craft was a solid player, but not as good as the attention he got.

Thanks for the shout out. By the time this quarantine is over, you'll be an enthusiastic season ticket holder and expert on hockey recruits born in 2006.

ND 2008 was worse, if I remember correctly it was multiple overtimes. 2018 cut out the terror of frozen four overtime, and got the pain out of the way early. Plus the 2018 team had the house money feeling, since they were good but not great and it was Mel Pearson's first year.

For 5, I'll repeat myself: nobody likes the white guy on another team. So Craft is the winner here, as bad as Green is.

I wish I had the memory for all the times we have gotten screwed in the hockey NCAAs. I have vague recollections of either Michigan's goalie covering up the puck with no whistle, allowing the opponent to jam it in, or conversely, the ref giving an incredibly quick whistle to the other team's goalie, thus nullifying our game winning goal.

1. Out of those two, 2018. #1 would definitely be the loss to UMD in the 2011 championship.

2. Walker. He was literally all we had as an outside weapon that year. That and we had Askew as our feature back because at that point Perry wasn’t Perry yet.

3. StausKiss. It was at #3 MSU and really was the solidifying point for us being the best team that year in the B1G

4. I’d choose a 2018 OSU UFR over reading draftageddon

5. Craft. Draymond actually didn’t become extremely punchable til he got to the NBA and got a big head because he played for GS.

2008 sucked. That 2008 team was so good. Probably the best M team since the late 90s, but that's the nature of a one-and-done hockey tournament. Sometimes you eat a loss like that, sometimes you're the team beating a #1 North Dakota team you have no business beating

The botched Miami regional final in 2011 will always be my worst tournament loss. We won that game but for the ref losing sight of the puck. We should've been in the Frozen Four in Detroit on a hot streak. I'll never get over that one

I agree that 2008 was the more painful. Should have won that title with that team. Still can't believe out of all the teams Michigan fielded in the 2000s that they never won a single title. The two games that stick with me the most from those years were the loss to CC in 2005 (up 3-0 and just rolling early in the 2nd period, just a total collapse from there) and North Dakota in 2007 (scoring twice in the first minute of both the first and second periods, but losing that 8-5). Between that UND game and the ND game in 2008 I can't imagine how bad Sauer feels looking back on his career.

The Miami regional was 2010; 2011 was the year we lost to UMD in OT of the title game. I remember that mostly because I was on a work assignment in Sweden at the time and stayed up all night on a Sunday to watch us come so close to a title. Ugh, I love and hate hockey at the same time...

1.  2008.  Had what it took to win a title.  2018 was more like “holy shit we made it this far?”

2. StaussKiss was glorious

3. Henne to Avant.  Avant is still one of my favorite M receivers.  Loved to see Navarre to Avant tho

4. I like Draftageddon.  Don’t @ me.

5.  Neither. Grayson Allen
