Thoughts on the submarine?

Submitted by sheepman on

So I am wondering what everyone around here thinks about the submarine. No countdown to kickoff. Almost no news and updates - and very little corroboration with what little we do get.

Is the B1G ten going there like they are every other school? Or are they too not allowed in the submaring?

I, for one, think it has added a layer of mysteriousness to the season. I kind of like not knowing. It might be building suspense for the season more than having numerous public updates.

Thoughts?

There is a method to the madness and Harbaugh knows what he needs to do to field a hungry team. A major way to get anyone to buy into something is to remove him or her from the distractions that are around them so that your message is heard loud and clear. Cults rely on this method to brainwash prospective members or to control current members. The military boot camp also does this as well with new recruits.

Overall, the concept is to remove the "old you" and replace it with a new identity that fundamentally relies on one another, or your team. Break down and build back up into something different. It's nothing new but it sure has an excellent track record of working in the history of mankind. It's success depends on isolation.

Maybe it will, or maybe it won't lead to more winning, but it will at least lay the groundwork for a cultural change in the locker room and on the field. Changing the culture takes a relatively long time to implement, but once it takes hold, it's nearly impossible to break down or tear apart. When future freshman enter that locker room for the first time, they will be forced to buy into the culture of winning or risk being labeled outcasts.

I'm very excited, but I'm patient. I don't need to know everything right now. I'm good with Harbaugh & company doing their thing and with me not knowing nothing.

Nothing ground breaking here but thought I would comment about what i saw yesterday.

My grandmother is visiting from florida and shes a diehard Michigan fan.  She had never seen the bighouse before so the whole family decided to take a trip down there with her and take some pictures in front of the stadium.

As we were going over the bridge over looking the outside practice field the team was out there practicing.  Me and grandma ended up getting out of the car to watch practice from the bridge for about 5 minutes.  A few things i noticed.

Morris and Rudock kept being rotated after about 3 plays each.

Morris threw an interception and every defender went pretty nuts yelling and screaming.

Players were being substituted very fast and they would get to the next play quickly.  The practice seemed very uptempo and organized.

I wonder about the vehicle's effectiveness in a modern setting.  With so many sensors available to a modern navy, can a sub truly remain hidden while getting close enough for an attack?
