"They do it right here" -- Washington sportscaster

The last few minutes of this, from a Washington writer describing what he saw in AA, is a warm tummy rub.

I apologize for being a UM Computer Engineering grad who writes great engineering software for industry but can't do anything practical like post a decent link on this blog. But the last three minutes made me once again appreciate how thankful I am for being all things Michigan. I suspect many will agree.

Love that he brings up that Michigan has no ads in the stadium. Where I sit, the next row behind me is where the visitor section starts. Fans always bring up that Michigan has no advertising and how nice it is, how unique it is in this day and age, and that Michigan doesn't need to when you have 100,000 people buying tickets and PSDs.

This isn't my point to make, so I'm only guessing... but my bet is it's in response to the faction of M fans who believe that the administration is solely interested in their own bottom line, not moving quickly enough to grease the skids for NIL money because they believe, the school believes, this money that goes directly to players via NIL, is money that is in direct competition to money that would potentially go to things like the school's endowment.

If somehow putting ads in the stadium would cut the commercial breaks down I'd take that trade all day.  The commercial breaks were absolutely brutal yesterday.  Unfortunately, I know, that one has nothing to do with the other.

However, if ads in the stadium were related to NIL and player associated and helped us become BAMA level elite, that's also a trade I'd be willing to make. CFB has already made the full on semi-pro / NFL prep model so I'd be willing to give up the nostalgia associated with an "ad-less" stadium if it somehow guaranteed an elite product.  Unfortunately, I don't think such a faustian bargain comes with any guarantees.
