These guys have heart - respect that

We may still lose this game by a lot, but these kids are playing every damn minute.

With all the mistakes, inexperience, injuries, etc. (not to mention everyone in the sports media ripping on this team - as well as many of the "fans" here).... they are not giving up.

That is character.

Proud of these young men - regardless of the final score.

Agreed. Quick question...where is Seldon? Gray, Turner, Faustin, and Perry all struggled. We heard Seldon's name a lot in the off-season. Why hasn't he been given a chance?

A few guys like Ronnie Bell want to win, but the team overall has no heart.  They clearly don't give a shit if they win, and in that respect it looks like they are mirroring their head coach.  You see it in the lackadaisical play, and the complete lack of mental toughness that pervades the team.

I'd say Bell, Paye, Milton, Roman Wilson. Maybe Dax Hill. At this point, protecting/creating draft stock seems to be plan A for the majority of the team. The coaches are either inept or handcuffed. I really can't blame them for looking out for number 1 at this point. I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a bunch of guys opt out of the rest of the season (Mayfield, Hutch, McGrone.)

Acceptance is a key component of happiness. Accept what we are, realize it's out of your control, and if you can't enjoy it step away. Being a fan is a choice. With that in mind in going to take my dogs on a hike and choose to do something the remainder of my day more enjoyable. Cheers

So much heart we get an ugly pick just when a comeback looks like it might happen, followed giving up another TD instead of rising the the occasion, and then another brutal penalty on a late hit down 17 again.

I'll respect the players heart when their heads line up with it instead of jumping offside a half dozen or more times before they finally figure out what's going on. Ronnie Bell is the only guy on the field today I can respect.

Even if this narrative was more accurate, what does that even mean? We're down to "defeat with dignity" now?

They played a little bit better today and showed some effort in making a slight comeback, certainly better than last week. But, generally my biggest beef with this program is that they never display any motivation. They come out flat and stay flat. .They lack focus and make stupid plays because of it. Just fucking play hard.

Yeah, I saw a spark on the offense and defense.  Just a couple of plays in the 3rd/4th that kept us out of it.

I am disappointed in the lack of design qb runs.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with this. This defense is playing uninspired and scared. No QB sacks in the last 8 quarters, very little pressure. Mental mistakes, undisciplined, spooked in the secondary. That is not playing with heart.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like this defense is mailing it in and is wilting under the pressure. That is not heart. I can accept failure if the effort and desire is there. This does not look like effort to me. At least on defense.

I’m sorry, but this game is pathetic. You’re happy about the “fight” in a 17 point loss to Indiana? In a game where Michigan averages 1 YPC?

get the hell out of here.

What would you have them do?  Just quit and sit on the sidelines?  Walk away because they aren't winning?  Grow up.  No one wins every challenge in life - and sometimes teams are going to have shitty seasons.

Sports is more than "win at all costs" - it's also about dealing with adversity.

Did I say I was happy about the result?  No - I said I was happy that they didn't just roll over and die.

If you can't distinguish the difference in respect to sports (and life), you're going to be constantly disappointed.

I’m not going to celebrate the fact they didn’t give up at the beginning of the 4th quarter.

The last two weeks they’ve been one play away from changing the outcome. Overthrown pass or a dropped interception and the game could’ve been different, but they haven’t made the play. They say a teams personality is a reflection of their coach, and in our case neither has one. Bell showed a little emotion, but that’s about it.
