I was at that game with a friend who was an Illinois grad. That year, a million Illinois football fans suddenly appeared at work. I was told many times that Michigan would lose. I'm sure this is the game that established Illinois as our greatest rival. It was a nail biter. The Illinois crowd was hopping mad at Mike White for running the ball on fourth down. Michigan knew they would and were ready. I went home happy. My friend was not so happy.
I was hoping Michigan would beat UCLA for a 2nd straight season in the rose bowl. Yuck! We lost to a not so great OSU team but luckily we had the Big 10 wrapped up with the win against Purdue.
his nickname was just 'gash'. they list him at 6' 1" and 208 which wasn't very big in the first place, but my memory was that he wasn't even that big. tough, tough competitor. would be fun if he was on the blog to comment.

He was probably 5'10" or 5'11", 6'1" in cleats though! I was a freshmen in the fall of '81 and soph in '82. I don't remember seeing him on campus.

My wife has to go see our optimist later this month. Very nice woman, but privately we refer to her as "The Moustache Lady". Are we bad people? Probably. Is it funny? Yes, yes it is. She does have a degree from Ohio State, so maybe I might not feel as bad about it as I should.
Just to confirm, there is a lady with a mustache who has a degree from Ohio State who provides you and your wife with a more positive view of things and it's her mustache that you make fun of???
Edit: Also, she likely makes fun of you for spelling mustache with an "o."
Consider it more of a situation where this is her most memorable feature.
