I'm sure there will be another thread for the actual game. I'm interested in the food and drink choices for the night. I'm drinking a variety of different Bell's beer. I picked up Winter White, Amber Ale, and Oarsman Ale. Almost got the Kalamazoo stout, but decided against it. As for food, I'm eating whatever people show up with! Enjoy folks, and go Niners!
Superbowl What are you eating/drinking thread
Pre-gaming with a Hopslam while the gf makes snacks for the party.
I keep hearing about it. Who makes it and where can I find it? I thought I heard Bell's makes it, but I haven't seen it.
Bell's makes it. It's a limited release in 6 packs and I think they only do half kegs for draft. I got the last 6er at my local store. I work in Kzoo and I look forward to this time of the year just for Hopslam. Delicious.
Double crooked tree is out I a few weeks too.
It's bells alright and it's as good as advertised. It's a seasonal and highly sought so you need to go to your fancy beer store if you don't live in the distribution footprint and ask. It doesn't stay on the shelves and outside of the Midwest it gets gobbled up by beer snobs before it hits the shelves.
I had Gumballhead last night for the first time. Definitely my new favorite beer.
Bell's Smitten Golden Rye, chili in the crock and wings awaiting pickup. Woodford Reserve to tie the whole thing together come end of the third quarter.
I had the Smitten last night-decent for the style. I'm going to be in the air during the game so I guess I'll have peanuts and bloody marys.
I like the Smitten, I'm just confused why it was released as a seasonal in February. It's light-bodied, refreshing, nothing real complex. It feels more like a spring or summer seasonal. That said, I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason.
It may just be capacity, but yeah, Smitten would be better recieved if it were a summer release.
Eating some chili and drinking some Great Lakes Wright Pils
It isn't ready yet, but I am working on Tuscan chicken with a tomato basil relish, orzo and a salad. My wife is going with the Chianti, and I decided to go with the Hacker-Pschorr. Beyond that, we're almost all set for the Super Bowl here.
Dip-off competition: buffalo chicken dip, Reuben dip, jalapeño dip, hoagie dip, Philly cheesesteak dip, Mexican dip...dipped out right now, need beer to wash it all down.
What about a dipshit?
Those all sound amazing. What is in the Philly cheesesteak dip?
Would edit in a picture of Kate Upton but I'm lazy.
But Whole Foods has a bucket of wings (4 varieties) for $8, so I got that and a pizza.
Edit: oh, and I baked a chocolate chip brownie, with powdered sugar sprinkled on it, the bacon of the dessert world.
Chicken shack and pasta from pizza hut.
It's calorie time.
the only day i deep fry food.
3 types of wings.
Some slow cooked babybacks too.
Today is the only day I deep fry wings too. I deep fry some cod about once a year too. I just can't stand the stink of a deep fryer.. Luckily I live in the south and can air it out without freezing my ass off tonight.
With home-crafted hot sause and Sailor Jerry with Coke.
I made some BBQ pulled chicken in a crock overnight and am about to make some frozen Margaritas
and four different kinds of chili.
venison sausage and a block of roasted bell pepper Colby-Jack cheese to snack on. Also making tacos in the next little bit here.
Going with a bottle of Smirnoff Raspberry that got left at the apartment after a party this weekend. It doesn't get a whole lot better than free booze and tacos (and cheese and venison).
I need to finish off my growler of Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo. Not sure what to do for dinner.
Just finished with the homemade appetizers: Crab Rangoons, Buffalo Wings, Onion Rings, Red Pepper Hummus, and some Bruschetta. It's been a busy Sunday afternoon getting all this stuff ready.
Weihenstephaner original. If the coach who went to Pi High wins, Glenfiddich after.
Arcadia Nut Brown and 3 kinds of chili/mexi dip
I live in Kalamazoo and love me some Bells and Arcadia beer, what would u compare the Arcadia Nut Brown to?
The first thing that comes to mind is Bell's BBA. pretty similar. Bought the Arcadia variety 12 pack with Loch Down and the IPA from meijer a week and a half ago. Good stuff.
Im drinking Best Brown and Moose Drool, good combo...
I haven't really taken to much of Arcadia's stuff, but I'll admit I haven't given them a fair chance. Any suggestions?
Arcadia's version of Oberon kinda, love em both
Pulled pork, back forty naked pig pale ale, and a pizza. Odd mix, I know! Niners by 3
Fish Eggs and champagne for the pre-game festivities. At half time we'll have one of our servants go get us some wings.
I got some of the new Budweiser Black Crown to drink and the wife is making up some wings and bean dip to go with some other goodies!
Let us know how that Black Crown is. I pondered purchasing it but went with the usual, boring Bud Light tonight.
It's pretty good. I can't place what it tastes like but it's got a premium beer taste with the 6% but with the Bud Light price. I would recommend it.
Just opened a bottle of Bear Republic Racer 5 and I have some Lagunitas Sucks as well. The wife and I are making wings, fried pickles, and some burgers later. We have the usually sides too (veggie plate, chips and dip)
Eatin some 'chos. Oh yeah
Drinking the first of a homebrewed Mango Amber Ale. More than happy with how it turned out after only 10 days in bottle. Should be great in March.
I haven't cooked it yet. It is seasoned and chillin out in room temp before cooking it. I have a home made apple cobbler in the oven as I type for dessert.
Hopslam, and going to make some shrimp fajitas in a bit. Also probably some bourbon
Hearted and Huma.
My fiancée made some pretty awesome chicken wing dip.
Enjoying a Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter. Then will feast on the cliche things buffalo chicken dip, wings, and fries
choice of: King crab legs, Cuban sandwiches, buffalo wings, seafood salad, coleslaw, roasted chicken, and bruschetta.
drinking brandy old-fashioneds and hopslams.
