Sunday Afternoon College Basketball
Yea that ankle didn't look like just a simple booboo. He's got time until it really matters (I'm sure Iowa would love to win the conference tournament but it pales in comparison to what they want to do later in March) so hopefully he gets right.
Kid was on fire today too, 5/5 before the injury.
They should probably keep Ferry? If they're in the ACC, they're a tournament team. Big Ten buzzsaw just crushed them. 35th in Kenpom despite the record.
Yeah, you look at their record and it's sort of crazy that they're not remotely considered a tourney team and MSU is talked about like a team solidly in the field of 68.
In a normal circumstance (e.g., Chambers left last March as opposed to last October), Ferry would have never been considered.
I don't think he's a horrible coach, and the 2 schools I'm mentioning aren't basketball powers, but he's going to have a combined 0 winning seasons in 6 at Duquesne and Penn State.
I hope PSU aspires to better. I do like the options mentioned in the 247 article - I'd prefer a B1G assistant over the usual tact (find a Patriot League coach).
----
For those old enough to remember, Bruce Parkhill quit (rather mysteriously) as PSU coach in September 1995. Given timing, PSU really had no choice but to promote assistant Jerry Dunn. Dunn had a favorable circumstance --- a legitimately good returning team, and PSU made the March 1996 NCAA. And then Dunn stayed for 7 more years. Despite that, he never was a particularly good coach.
Dunn honestly would have never been considered back in 1995 outside of timing. The current Ferry situation is very similar IMO.
Saddi is bound to get a head coaching job eventually. He's way too qualified to stay around forever. Would suck to lose Washington and Eisley in the same offseason though
Potter finally actually playing well, at least offensively. Trice no showed though. And just took an elbow to the forehead. And got called for the foul because he violated Bohannon's space in getting elbowed. His third.
That call was incredible. So bad.
He started hitting some shots after that play though.
No Beau Borofski for us today. He's doing the Wisco Iowa game and there is a video review every third play
Shoot. I like Bo, especially against Staee
Are we watching Luka Garza's last game at Carver Hawkeye?
Wieskamp pretty important. Iowa I think -12 since he got hurt.
Trice picks up #4 on a Wisconsin chest (!)
Also....DJ Carstensen is officiating this game so we miss his ass this afternoon! Assuming Bo Boroksi* again.
*no, he's with the bald fuck in Iowa City
Loooot of flopping in this game.
That's a common foul, but might be a Flagrant Davison 1
Fun game, wisc/Iowa.
Tied at 71, 42 seconds left. Iowa just rebounded a free throw miss and took a timeout. Keegan Murray who has had a pretty great game.
Wow Trice fouls out for....I've no clue what for and Bohannon somehow gets 3 free throws because of it
Borowski fell for it. Horrible ref.
Davison still trying hook and holds...
Probably had the foul call but did a dirty thing to make it look worse and probably going to pick up a flagrant one for it.
Kind of amazing that the national player of the year was taken out for that last possession.
Davison should be called for a hook and hold here...clearly him doing his renowned bullshit.
Of course he did.
Don’t understand why Iowa hasn’t tried to go to Garza in the last 2 minutes in a one possession game.
Jump ball call looked generous for Wisconsin, maybe they felt hook and hold on Davidson was borderline
Wow they called...and appeased Gard somewhat by keeping the Murray common foul.
Murray restricted Davison's movement, it was a common foul. But then Davison gave up two points for this team because he can't resist trying to hurt people.
Not 100% sure I agree with the Murray call but you're right it's going to get called regardless.
Wonder if any of his (Davidson) teammates hate him
Nice "horseshit" from Gard.
How does Bohannon not get a T for slamming the ball? The ball bounced 15 feet high.
I saw that too....i don't think an official saw it.
Omg here we go with the 'who hit it last'. Soooop dumb
This is the 8th review of this game? At least?
One of longest last two minutes of a game I can remember
20 minutes for the last minute of game time, says Twitter.
Wisconsin got screwed by the refs to end the game.
It's their own fault they have Brad Davison on their roster.
I assume you mean the out of bounds call though...that play/review has almost become the worst in the sport. Review it every single play of the game then since these minuscule "who hit it last off of a tip" is always a close call but it properly goes to the team not initiating the tip for 38 minutes.
That one was 50-50, so hard to complain about. About a minute before that, though, Trice was fighting through a screen, doesn't seem to touch Bohanen at all, who then throws up a 3 pointer that misses badly. Trice fouls out; 3 foul shots. And I hate Davison and his play as much as anybody, but his getting called for a hook and hold when he was fouled going to the basket seemed a stretch as well.
Nah - he’s been a dirty cheapshot artist for what - 3 or 4 years now. He deserves every questionable foul that gets called on him, and If Wisky is dumb enough to keep playing him they have no right to bitch either
C'mon, I got Iowa -3.5...
YESSS!!!
I did mention Iowa was getting a favorable whistle. What a ref show.
Nice that Iowa won. Sets up for a great possible (not looking ahead, but just saying), a Michigan/OSU or Purdue winner and Illinois/Iowa Saturday semis. If Iowa lost, Purdue would’ve been 3 and Iowa 4. I like Illinois having to see likely Iowa or OSU before BTT finals. Purdue snuck in as 4, but still think Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and OSU best 4.
Nebraska and Northwestern in the final seconds. Northwestern has the ball down 1 with 12.7 seconds to go. Game is OK to watch because the competition is equal. It is amazing how far Northwestern fell from the beginning of the B1G season. Not sure what happened to them or how long they want to stick with Collins.
Northwestern up 1 with 2.7 left
The Refs ruined what was going to be a great ending to this game. Just let them play fercrisakes
Nebraska loses - how long do they stick with Hoiberg and why did they fire Tim Miles?
Not sure why Miles is coaching somewhere else?
