Summer Friday BBQ, Beverage, Bonfire and Northern Lights (?) Thread

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on July 7th, 2023 at 8:34 PM

Mates,

Summer is here and time is right for dancing in the streets.  It's also a great time to be outside enjoying the Michigan summer - the weather in our state has been pretty great this week.   Also, there is at least some thought that the Northern Lights might appear, although some reading I did later today made it seem like the best Northern Lights might not be here until next week - apparently being 93 million miles away makes long distance radiation storms take a while to hit.   That April show of lights was pretty epic - the best I've ever seen below the bridge, no doubt.

Regardless, it's Friday night and what is in your cup, on your plate/BBQ?  Got a bonfire going?  Did you take time off this week besides the 4th?  What else is going on?

Hope you are well,

XM

I saw the northern lights for the first time this past winter on a snowmobile trip in the Eastern UP  This picture was taken on Grand sable lake in Grand Marais. I read that us Hoosiers will have a chance to see it next Thursday,  Pretty crazy this time of year!

Copy your iPhone photo and save it to your iPhone Files folder. Select the photo there and choose export from the file menu (top center). Export as a PNG to the same folder. Then use the folder icon from the comment entry window and select the PNG from your files.
This has bugged me for years. I’m relieved to have finally figured it out thanks to the tip from Mgopioneer.

Here’s fireworks at the beach to prove it works.

And in keeping with the theme of this thread, I had one of these last weekend when visiting my MGoSister.

On your iPhone desktop, you should have a blue folder labeled “Files”. Have one of your kids help you out. I bet they are much more adept at this “technology” stuff than you or me. It took me a half hour of experimenting this morning before I accidentally stumbled into a workable solution. And then it took me another half hour to figure out what I did.

Night at the fire pit on the balcony with my son.  Warmed up for upcoming concerts with some Kiss and Foreigner music.  Watched the Cubs win at Yankee Stadium on TV in the background..  Miscellaneous beers including Bells No Yeah and Molson XXX.

First weekend home, and without company, for ~5 weeks.

1. PBR

2. not eating tonight. fasting is a phenomenal thing for your overall health.

3. no bonfire. always gone all summer but I’ll have a few this fall. also, the pond and slow moving creek makes mosquitos a nightmare once you get 10 feet from the house

4. I did not take time off because I love being a corporate slave (that’s what my paycheck says)

5. What else I got going on …… playing 18 with the wife tomorrow at a course that has a lot of elevation changes and 3 island greens. Playing 18 Sunday at my local course. Probably some ribeye and filet.

working on the wife X. trying to get it into her head we need at least 1/2 cow from your farm. Visit, pick up the meat, drive it 12 hours back to Ohio (🤮)

Tanquery and tonic with fresh lime doing porch sitting which is nice. Burgers and dogs on the Weber.

Haven't been able to have the beach bonfire I set up as my Dad went in the hospital Father's Day. Been there since so I have been on a short leash.

Our youngest, the Marine, is home for a few weeks before his deployment to the land of the rising sun.  So we're enjoying some time with him.

A cold lager in the mug and some ranch and cheddar burgers hitting the grill will be on the slate for this afternoon.

It appears I’ve finally figured out how to upload a photo from my iPhone to MGoBlog. Those are my Detroit Tigers slippers. I decided to get fancy and edit out the carpet.

Try saving as a PNG instead of a JPEG. That worked for me.
