Stream Lions Preseason Game Tonight

Hi All,

Well, the Lions sucked me back in again.  Drafting Hutch and good vibes coming from camp have me hopeful once again...

Maybe I am a glutton for punishment, but I'm gonna give it a go again this year after (mostly) boycotting games last year minus the Thanksgiving game (only thing on).

Looking at streaming options as I don't have cable, but all I see available are:

DirecTV StreamFuboTVSling

I also know the NFL has a subscription thingie now (yes, I'm old) but I'll wait til things get "real" before paying the NFL for preseason stuff.

Anyone know of other ways to stream that don't require subscriptions?

And my annual question to the Lions is:

YARN | Do you really want to hurt me? | The Wedding Singer ...

Don't do it man (Getting sucked in). I assume you're not in the Detroit area to pick up local TV. ESPN indicates it's on NFL Network, so maybe you can go to a bar and watch.

Regarding the Lions themselves, I don't understand the hype. They had a great draft and Goff is serviceable. But geez, they lost 14 games for multiple reasons and many of them are still on the team.

I think the hype stems from finally getting a good draft and how they lost those games last year.

The team never quit on Dan Campbell even with that record at the end of the year.

More importantly, 8! of those games were one score games/tie. Only one was an 8 point loss to the 49ers. It’s not hard to see a 7 win team if half those games had better bounces their way.

There’s other reasons Im excited, but above are the main reasons for me.

For die-hard Lion fans, it's impossible to give up because at some point, they'll have a dream season.  No, it won't be this year but it HAS to happen in the years to come.  If it can happen to the Red Sox and Cubs, it can happen to the Lions, right?

This year, 8-8 is best case scenario and that's if everything goes perfect for them.  On the bright side, they have one of the better offensive lines in football, a number of emerging / very good play makers (Swift, Hockenson, St Brown) and now a former UM star to hopefully help anchor the D-Line.  They're still incredibly weak overall on defense and Goff is an average at best QB, but they're not as hopeless (hapless?) as they've been the past several years.

Goff is "serviceable."  That says it all.  He's something like the 18th best starting QB in the league.  That can get a team to the playoffs if they have other strengths, but generally not too much more.

Yes, yes, for those who will argue otherwise --- I know Goff has been to a Super Bowl.  He also threw for all of ONE touchdown pass during the Rams' playoff run that year.  Goff missing Brandin Cooks in the Super Bowl for a TD was brutal.  He's completed LESS than 54% of his passes in 4 of his 6 career playoff games.  Last year certainly proved that much of the Rams success in that era wasn't because of their QB.

If you're just trying to watch the lions (and you live in Michigan), you don't need to subscribe to anything. Just make sure your antenna gets your local Fox and one of these.

If you don't live in Michigan, there's no legal way to get regular season Lion's games without a subscription - you need DirecTV with NFL Sunday Ticket.

The services you're mentioning are basically cable without the contract - of those types of streaming services, I personally use YouTubeTV. Sling only has Fox and NBC and costs almost as much if you want both and BTN, the other two cost more and don't have TBS (which plays baseball). So I figured YTTV was the best intersection of price and service. But again, YTTV isn't the best way to watch the Lions. If you live in Michigan - antenna. If you don't, DirecTV.
