Grad Assistant? I assumed those guys still needed to be in school (as-in in a GRADuate program) but Spike was on the 2011-12 team. This would be his tenth year in college. Am I mistaken on the qualifications or is he going for a double doctorate?
A college graduate can go back to graduate school at any time.
Oh, I guess that's true. Makes sense.
I've known a couple people who got into graduate school without having graduated. (They had extensive work experience, though.)
His first season was 12/13. He played 4 years at Michigan with a redshirt his 4th year. He played one year at Purdue. He worked outside of basketball after graduating, was a graduate assistant at Louisville for one year and is now a grad assistant at Purdue.
This will be his 7th year.
His seventh year in school, so why is that shocking to folks? He is not playing, he’s learning to coach. His eligibility is irrelevant.
Exactly, eligibility to play in an undergraduate league is one thing while enrolling in graduate classes to qualify as a graduate assistant is another. That is why I was able to attend M football games as a student for 11 seasons.
As far as I can tell only one person was shocked and he seems to have gotten over it.
Good Luck to Spike except against us. As for 7 years of college, it worked out for John Blutarsky.
Matt Painter seems like the ideal coach to observe and learn from. He's smart, runs a great program, and seems like the type to help a GA like Spike. Much like Beilein and Howard both do. This is a great sign for Albrecht's future success in coaching.
Definitely one of the better B1G coaches to learn under
Spike was a quintessential Beilein player. Seems like he'd be a good coach.
Much better than Louisville.
not if you're interested in learning how to bang on italian restaurant tables.
10 second shot clock. Shooters, shoot.
I don't know the circumstances, but he left Louisville in early November last year, so he wasn't there for the full year.
When Spike sees something he likes, he's not shy about going after it.
Good deal. When Juwan retires in 20 years, Spike will be ready to take over
Ive temporarily deleted twitter so I can’t check but it wouldn’t surprise me if Novack has needled Spine about this. Always fun watching those two roast each other
Will be good experience for Spike. Eventually would like to see him back home though,... Go Blue!!
