Sparty fans
Hmm, i wonder if the title of this will draw that one Spartan troll we get here to respond. Anyways, I was just arguing with my roommate about sports. Of course, the inferiority complex all Spartan fans display came out very fast. He said we are jealous that State is much better at sports this year. Also, only football and basketball count. How nice of him to ignore all the other sports. God forbid we count the hockey rivalry as part of it. Yet, when State is rolling in hockey, it seems to suddenly count as something "we dominate you guys in." By the way, for those of you who don't know, Michigan gang raped MSU in hockey this past weekend. I wonder how many Spartan fans realize that the basketball programs have basically split the last few years in head-to-head matchups. Football? Don't get me started. We lost ONE TIME in 7 years and you'd think they've owned us for the past decade. It happens. They were overdue for their 1 in 5 years upset. Thanks for letting me vent. SPARTY NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

In this case, I'd agree with. If we, as a fanbase, truly "don't care" about Sparty, we wouldn't have twice-weekly posts declaring how little we care. Sorry.

who say they "don't care" are the most arrogant fans we have. How could you not care when we have to live among the Sparty fans. The only game I truly care more about is Ohio State. Notre Dame might be a bigger deal to me too, but not by much.

how what other people say points to anything about my fandom characteristics. Also, I would hardly qualify my views on our rivals as an obsession. I sometimes argue with opposing fan bases, however, almost all of my daily sports time online is devoted to Michigan or Detroit teams. I spend a few moments every now and again on State and others just because it's interesting to see what's going on in other places sometimes. But if this board is obsessed with Michigan State, I'm afraid to see how our views on Michigan would be qualified. I guess Michigan is not an obsession of this board, more like...a lifestyle?

There is not a lot of Buckeye hate on this site. All Brian can come up with is the occasional jab at Tressel being boring. Pretty weak, but if we do manage to get the Bucks next year maybe some latent hate will re-emerge. Until that day, I fear that the MSU obsession is a sign of slipping away from what should be our most important rivalry.

Yeah, I agree with Chitown. I feel like we should beat MSU in everything, that's why they get so hell bent when they beat us. When I hear we beat MSU in something, my first thought is "of course we did."

To be honest, we DO have a rivalry with them. Sure they get really arrogant sometimes, but how about us? We say that they deserve to beat us every 5 years in football? Arrogant. Just like you say about them.
We have a rivalry with them. Ask yourself, do you care about beating them? I know I do! I want to crush them every time we play them. I want to yell at every State fan I see in Ann Arbor.
I HATE Michigan State. With a passion. We have a rivalry and it is important.

It's not like he's bitching on a Sparty forum. He posted here (probably expecting support), amongst his fellow Michigan fans. That make him obsessed with State now? Please. If we can't post about Little Brother here, then where is it appropriate?
I don't think Michigan fans are obsessed with Sparty, but I do think Spartan fans ARE obsessed with Michigan. Is it even debatable? I don't even have a problem with it. I think it's great.

everyone on here was acting like i was trying to deflect State away as if I didn't care about the rivalry. The problem is that I DO CARE ABOUT IT. And you're right. If I have something to say about other programs/fanbases, where the hell else am I going to say it? Not 100 percent of my college sportsdom is devoted to Michigan. That would get old after awhile.

The ever elusive 'criteria changer' in sparty arguments is a pet peeve of mine, too.
I hate that crap. I feel for you man.
We are 2 and 3 over the past three years against them in basketball and we only played in Breslin last year. 2 and 1 against them in Football...who knows about the host of olympic sports and otherwise that we either dominate them in or they don't even field a team. just swept their ass off the ice in hockey over the weekend...grrrr

Yeah my brother is a Spartan and is a major hypocrite in all arguments. He constantly contradicts himself in arguments. I am sure we have types like that at UofM, but he'd rather see UM lose than MSU win.

Someone said "I don't believe there is such a thing as a MSU obsessed UofM fan" and "It is impossible to be an MSU obsessed UofM fan". Looks like this proved you guys wrong. HARHAR
