The Solar Car team was robbed in the international race. IIRC, they were run into by Stanford and it took them a day to fix it, so they were a day behind. Despite that, they finished respectably. They likely would have taken 1st or 2nd otherwise though.
Stanford is still trying to pay everyone back for The Band Play.
And nobody should make fun of the Ballroom Dancing.
Or the Men's Glee Club. M has the best. Bar none.
And let's hear a cheer for a school that can make a kick butt solar car in a state that gets about 90 days of sun a year! THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!

Hell yeah. One of the oldest, and certainly the best. Of course I might be a little biased, but I won't let that get in my way.
I was watching This Old House the other day, and one of the Silva brothers was at a competition for energy efficient houses in DC. I wept a bit when they arrived at the Michigan entry. It had an M flag in front, and the Silva brother said "the say 'Go Blue!'" He only previewed two entries, so Michigan's must have been good.
I spoke to one of the Solar Car team members at the Detroit Auto show a few years ago about the competition. (As a former mech. engineer, I dig this stuff.) I was curious as to why they always did so well in the North American competition but not the one in Australia. He informed me that the nature (I can't recall if it is the rules or sources of team funding) of the NA race differ from the Aussie race with regards to the cost of the vehicles. The NA race teams are generally limited in the types of solar cells they are able to utilize while the Aussie race teams are able to use more efficient, much more expensive cells.
Does anyone know if they were using a new Carr with Les Miles?

I shudder to think of how often we'd have had to hear that horrible joke if Miles had been hired.
