Softball: Bree Evans Feature

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

There have been a few people interested in the return of Bree Evans after her medical emergency during the fall season. The good news is she's back. The better news, she's awesome.

And hopefully super regionals. I was hoping to make it to the WCWS this year to see Michigan win it all. It probably won't happen unless they go to game 3 in the championship round as I've got plane tickets to see the girlfriend for a week. I'll make it back to DFW after Game 2 of the championship round is completed. If it goes to game 3, I'll probably make the 5 hour drive up there.

...on Bree.  She's quite a tough cookie.  I loved the play where she turned what looked like a single into four bases and a run.  Also loved the confidence about getting to the WCWS and beating UDub.

Go Bree, Go Softball and Go Blue!

That was a great feature, and it's easy to see that Bree is just as great a person as she is a softball player.  I remember when that terrible injury happened (back in the fall), my brother was at the game and called me in an absolute state of shock and emptiness.  I couldn't be happier to see her back on the field and leading it off again for the Maize & Blue.  IIRC, she had a real nice game against NU back on the 17th when I was in attendance.

Go Blue!!

...to Amanda Chidester and Nikki Nemitz:

For the third time this season, the No. 2-ranked University of Michigan softball team swept the Big Ten Conference weekly awards, the league office announced on Monday (May 10). Sophomore second baseman Amanda Chidester (Allen Park, Mich./Cabrini HS) was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the first time this season, while senior LHP Nikki Nemitz (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Regina HS) garnered her eighth career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolade. The duo helped Michigan to four wins over in-state rivals last week.

Congratulations to both players.

This has just been a fun team to watch, and an incredible season.  What a resilient player Bree is; we're going to need her tenacity if we want a deep WCWS run.

This team just enjoys playing together.  Go Blue!
