Softball beats Virginia Tech 6-1, Romero breaks another career record
In the first game of the doubleheader today, Michigan took on Virginia Tech. The same team they faced in their second-most recent game.
Michigan doubled their previous scoring output against VT in this game, winning 6-1.
Michigan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on throwing error when Blanco faked bunt, and both SiLo and Romero stole. The throw to 3rd went over the VT 3B's head and the runners scored.
In the 3rd, Romero hit a two-run blast to put Michigan up 4-0 and then RBIs by Falk and the freshman Faith Canfield gave Michigan a 6-0 lead.
VT tacked one run on in the 7th inning but that was it. Michigan wins 6-1.
Romero was walked twice in this game, making her the new career record holder for walks at 179, passing Dorian Shaw who had 178.
#2 Michigan faces #13 Florida State tonight at 5pm on ESPN3. Michigan beat them yesterday, 6-2.

Romero's like a video game character.

The FSU game is at 5:00 pm, per both teams' websites (assuming the Minnesota-Virginia Tech game doesn't go long).
The Big Ten has extended their lead in the B1G/ACC challenge; they now lead 9 games to 4. Nebraska scored a pretty good 4-3 upset over Louisville this afternoon.

Great start to the 2nd game of the day. 6-0 after 3, 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd alone! FSU is getting runners on, but so far we've dodged the bullets. Hopefully we keep it up.

Rough top of the 5th for Michigan - 7-3 now. Hopefully we can build that lead back up a bit!

Michigan gets all 3 back in the bottom of the 5th - and misses a run-rule walk-off situation by inches! Throw just beat Christner to the plate. 10-3, heading to the 6th.

Also, Sobczak is doing a great job of easing my post-Lauren Sweet anxiety, hitting her 2nd homer of the year.

Betsa faces three batters in the top 6 ... and guns them all down! One run in the bottom 6 would end it in Michigan's favor; otherwise, FSU will have 3 outs in the 7th to try to make the comeback.

Pop-out ends it! Big W! 10-3 final.
