Sitting with the enemy at the Rose Bowl

It appears that the prices for seats in similar locations are hundreds of dollars cheaper on the Alabama side of the field. Will I be surrounded by a sea of crimson if I sit over there or are others taking advantage of the cheaper price in order to improve their view? On the other hand, I suspect the prices on the Michigan side will keep Bama fans out so that's a plus.

Our group bought tickets on the bama side and know of others who did the same. I think you'll be ok.

EDIT: for more context we're in 2H. Also have 2 tickets for sale if anyone is interested! Tickets were sold

Worry about what you can control. You can't control who sits around you.  You may change the odds a little, but there are no guarantees of great neighbors or chumps. Get the best seats you can for the money.

I don't think there's any harm or shame in going for the cheaper ticket certainly. I mean, it would be nice to be able to get home on top of everything else, regardless of outcome, right?

I do think you're right though - I have to believe the Michigan side might be a more solid bloc, if you will, although Alabama has a fair number of people that shell out for tickets to even the most meaningless of games, so I assume they would pay for this ticket potentially (except, of course, this game very much means something obviously).

The Michigan bloc is in the southwest part of the stadium, is it not? Perhaps it won't be such a big deal, but won't that mean that the Alabama section on the opposite side will be looking into the setting sun for much of the game? Does the position of the sun affect the ticket price at all?

I met a lot of Bama fans at the Citrus Bowl a few years ago, and they were surprisingly cordial and very nice to our group.  Of course the stakes are much higher this time around.

People are basically the same regardless of which color shirt they put on. Most are not going to go out of their way to be a jerk. Some will. They're more willing to be jerks when it's a rivalry.

Big-time bowl games are stupid expensive to attend, especially in a place like Los Angeles. They're only affordable luxuries if you're the kind of person who can function in society. There seem to be fewer jerks all around at those games.

I joined the Big 10 Club of So Cal this year because they offer face value tickets to the Rose Bowl. I live in LA so it seemed like a good group to be a part of regardless.

Their block of seats are in sections 6 and 7 which is the bama side but will surely be full of other Michigan fans around me.  I’ll be in 6H.

i went to a Rose Bowl mixer event of theirs out of curiosity and spoke to someone high up on the Rose Bowl Committee.  He said he expects it to be very heavy Michigan fans.  Potentially 2/3rds Michigan fans.  He said he dealt with ticket allotment and had some intel on it.  Based on the ticket prices being more affordable on the Bama sides this seems like it checks out.

Also, there is a massive Michigan Alumni base in LA and the tradition of the Rose Bowl will surely draw Michigan fans from across the country. I think a lot of Bama fans just assume they will win and will safe their money for an easier trip to Houston.

I’m expecting a big turnout for Michigan and don’t think anyone should be afraid of sitting on the Bama side.
