SIAP: Michigan Helmet Stickers

Submitted by Swayze Howell Sheen on September 11th, 2022 at 10:20 AM

Sorry if already posted, but my daughter asked me last night what the "TED" sticker was on the Michigan helmet and I had no idea. So, we googled, and found this page:

Pretty cool! And TED does not mean they were a speaker at a TED conference, but rather "There Every Day".

I like the new specialization; do you?

"There Every Day"

Aren't attendance awards usually given out at the end of the semester/season? 😊

Thanks for posting this. Good to know what they all mean.

Yep; motivational!

I had a non-OP worthy question in game 1 about helmet stickers.  Players already had a bunch, so I assume these are from previous years.  Maybe even the same helmet from last year.  Is this correct?

The contrast is the Buckeye helmet (I think) where they get a sticker for every nice play (like rec baseball). Their helmets are empty to start the season.

Do I have this right?

Specialized or not, I really dislike the helmet stickers but because that’s a strong competitor for my least favorite aspect of the Harbaugh era, I’m mostly willing to suck it up and deal.

I was surprised by the number of stickers some players had before kickoff of the first game.  Anyone have the story on how a player earns over a dozen stickers before the season starts?

I purchased the student shirt for this year and wanted to know the meaning of the stickers on its helmet picture. I know (734) is the AA area code (and the first sticker everyone gets is this nod to their hometown). But what do the "11" and "43" stickers mean? I assume one is the player's number. What about "HAIL" and the wolverine - does every player get those?

I really love these stickers. I remember the mid-80s stickers and see this as Harbaugh taking an old concept and tweaking it to modernize. If the weekly game notes explained new stickers, I would read every issue!

WOW; 22 stickers! If it adds for more motivation then I am for it. On the other hand, it serves as a nice pat on the head.

I like the plain football sticker for a critical play during a game but then again for those who do not get into a game will never get a sticker.

Thanks for posting the link for this info.
