It looks like shonn green will be heading to the NFL. One less player to worry about next year.

Really dumb move, he's going in the second round.

if he has a stellar combine he could go in the first. some teams and some gm's just love that workout warrior(vernon gholston). i mean i doubt he will, but its possible.

The guy's about to turn 24. I don't blame him. Besides, it's not like his stock is going to soar if he stays. He's already led the nation in rushing.

Two good seasons = more money than one good season after missing a whole year due to injury. His age doesn't matter, Billy Sims was 25 when the Lions picked him at #1.

He didn't miss 2007 due to injury. He missed it due to grades. And NFL GMs are a lot more conscious about how much tread is on a RB's tires than they were 29 years ago when Sims was drafted. (You might note that Sims's NFL career wasn't very long.)

You might also note that it was short due to a devastating knee injury that would take out a running back of any age.

yes, two good seasons in a row would get him more money. do you think any iowa running back will have two good seasons in a row? especially after a bowl game like that, i mean, you have to leave right ? its iowa.

But conventional wisdom holds that older players tend to get injured more often, and when they do, it's typically more difficult for them to bounce back. You may dispute this, but that is the mindset of most GMs. They mentioned on the broadcast today that Greene's age was a concern. It'd be even more of an issue if he were to stay at Iowa, carry the ball another 300 times, and go into the 2010 draft at age 25. Running backs take an insane amount of physical punishment.

In the same way that a 24 year old smoking A ball is not nearly as big a deal as a 22 year old.

This makes no sense.

One in the hand.
Yeah, he's better off taking the $$$ now. Why risk an injury? It's not like he can fall back on his degree from Iowa.
Georgia is playing smeer the queer with MSU.

Oh thank God.

Good move for him. With the Hawkeyes back on our schedule, it's good for us, too.
